Current Scaling Options Are Too Coarse — We Need Precise, Free UI Scaling
Hello,
I'd like to provide feedback about FFXIV's UI scaling system. My friends and I have experienced problems with the current scaling options, and I want to explain our specific situations rather than simply saying that the UI is uncomfortable.
We would really like the development team to consider allowing players to adjust UI scaling more precisely, similar to World of Warcraft that gives players more choice.
1. My problem: Switching from a 16:10 monitor to 16:9 at higher resolutions
I previously used a 900p monitor and then a 1200p monitor. Both of them had a 16:10 aspect ratio.
After switching to 2K and 4K monitors, which use a 16:9 aspect ratio, I noticed that the UI layout and sizing were noticeably different (all a bit larger). I cannot reproduce the same comfortable UI scale and layout I had on my previous monitor, even after trying the available scaling options.
I estimated that I would need around 190% scaling in System Configuration - High Resolution UI Settings to achieve a similar UI size to what I was used to. This is the scaling percentage I calculated by proportionally enlarging a screenshot of my original 1200p UI to 4K.
However, the game does not provide that option. I don't want to use 200% because it's a little large for me and mine layout.
I tried using 200% scaling and then reducing individual UI elements by 10%, for example, from 100% to 90%. But this still doesn't solve the problem.
Some individual UI elements need to be smaller than the available options allow. For example, if an element looks correct at around 50%, but the minimum available setting is 60%, I cannot adjust it to the size I actually need.
Sometimes the available scaling increments also jump by 20 instead of 10, which makes fine-tuning even more frustrating.
Example 1: Party frames in 24-player raids
For example, I need to set the other party frames in 24-player raids to approximately 70% to get the same size as the old 80% setting.
However, the game only offers 60% and 80% in this case. Neither option gives me the size I want.
If I choose 80%, the elements are too large. If I choose 60%, they become too small.
This is exactly the kind of situation where a more precise scaling system would help.

Example 2: Pet Hotbar
For example, I need to set the Pet Hotbar to 50% to get the same size as the old 60%. But the game only offers to 60%. This is seriously making me difficult to set.
