Thoughts on attendance.

The only thing that sets me off is that someone that has 50% attendance has the same priority as someone who has 100% attendance. Sure, some people can't make it to every run and that is understandable. But for those who make it to every run only to be outlotted on said piece by someone who has attended half of what you have, well, it's annoying.

Taken from the limbus thread..

We have some people with very high attendance who try to make every run. We also have some who skip runs where they do not want any of the drops. RL should come first but should someone who has only come to one run in the past month have the same priority as someone who has been to every run?

I have been thinking about this for a while but since this has come up in limbus where there is already an attendance system I thought now was a good time to see what people think about this.

Should someone dedicated to coming be rewarded by having a tier before the ones which we use now for people with say 75% or more attendance in the past month?

I like the idea in principle but I see a couple problems with it.

A few people don't have all the clears still. We're focusing more on northlands in the future and it would kind of suck if you came to every city run but could never lot top tier because you can't get into every other run. That's a pretty small number though and clearing hasn't been as much of an issue lately anyway though.

I can also see people who aren't sure they can make every run just leave altogether if they don't think they'll ever be able to lot.

I think things are fine the way they are really. There's no system or changes that will make everyone happy in the shell but I think we're hitting the highest number we can the way it is.

I think things are fine the way they are...

...except both last Xarcabard and Jeuno, I saw new faces.

Please, please, please stop inviting your BFF Jill fer Chrissakes.

There wasn't anyone in Jeuno that hadn't run with us before as far as I can remember.

How many people per person for invite? Eticket already invited about 15, so...what, -1 per person now? GOOD JOB ETICKET, GOOD JOB.

Personally I like this idea. If its that way with limbus and so far the majority of people agree why not for dynamis.

People will say I am not going to want to come if I don't want to lot. If you are only making like 50% of the runs you should understand why it would be going to person who has higher attendance. It would benefit the shell more for someone to have a drop that is at every run rather then someone who only comes to xarc runs. (There are people that only make xarc runs.)

As for what Eticket said. If clears are an issue can work something out so they can lot. If they are making every run they have access to then it shouldn't be an issue.

Lexa: There were no new people at jueno. Everyone who was there had been to a run before. Also someone asked me if they could bring someone and I told them no, invitees are closed.

With the way you have things set up now, everyone stands to benefit from any given run, if they don't need/want AF2 they can comment money. From what I've seen that has been netting people a nice chunk of change.

Some of us try to not go unless we direly need something due to the stress it puts on the computer last xarc i lagged way too much and couldnt do nearly anything at all.

I don't know about a tier system, but a minimum attendance requirement over the past, say, month would be nice. Something low, like 50%. I'm probably hovering around that number myself so no one can claim I'm playing favorites :P

Don't make things too strict... no need for it. Especially with the upped drop rates in glacier and xarcabard, shit will be a lot more frequent now. Make shit too strict and watch the attendance become less and new members be less likely to come. Leave it as it is and just watch people like you guys are doing.

The up'd drop rates seem no longer in effect. Think they ninja'd them back down once everyone knew where PUP, COR & BLU fell.

It might be a little premature for this. We've only just got done establishing this "static", really. I mean, it's been going on for a while, but as has been said we just closed invitees and are sticking to our =now static= group. After a few more weeks or a couple months, depending on how things play out, there might be a necessity for attendance requirements.

I do agree with keeping tabs on people that only come for say, northlands however. I feel people should be discouraged to come to only those and think they have the same lotting rights as others that go to every other run they are able to. It isn't really fair for people to just waltze in for only what runs they want and take away from people that are attending the static and helping the group as a whole, full time.

Ditto what Chii said.

To a degree I think there should be some sort of tier in Northlands at least. Now speaking from my heart I will say if some AF drops in Xarc that hasn't dropped in months and someones who only pops in here and there out of the blue and out lots those who have been to just about every run every Sun & Wed there is going to be a lot of bitching and complaining. If that were to happen, I think those hard core Dyna attende's would think "whats the point in coming everytime since it doesnt really matter".

As much as I have a love hate relationship with point systems, I will admit sometimes it is in favor to have that kind of systen set up when there are new people coming in and out of a shell. It's aslap in everyones face when a new person comes to a few runs gets shit and then bounces (just had this happen in my sky LS). Also talking about new people, I thought that the shell was now closed out outsiders? If so, how come "new people" keep popping up?
(Please excuse me if if those "new people" happen to be other Ultima members since I'm not really aware of who are all in UltimaLS other then the "regulars" that are usually in most of the runs)

Correct me if I'm wrong but this is Ultima Dynamis with selected invitees?

Sure some of your LS members can't make every run but look outside the Dynamis Box and I'm sure you LS mates have helped you with gear in other areas.

Speaking for myself (even though it applies to some others), can't make every run due to timezones (dynamis is in AU working hours) and some times when i have a day off there may be other stuff to catch up with in game.

I personally like Dynamis right now because of the simplicity of the lotting rules. There's no small print and it's easy to understand. WE invite people to join and if they lot and leave well, who is really to blame? I guess we need to have better taste in friends or use better judgement.

I like things how they are. I show up when I can, I know I'm not one of the more "hardcore" dynamis players. But I haven't seen any real problems with drops as of yet. Maybe give it a couple months?

The only problem I saw was concerned lag. I try and go after AF2 that isn't commented on as much. Something >>> Nothing and that is the attitude that has gotten me a piece of AF2 every single run I've been with you all. (except that qufim run but ... lol)

Still, I don't fancy leveling RDM -- I'm not ready for that crap. But you'll have that with any and every shell. Even if you restrict the amount of people that can lot by a great deal your still never going to see a freelot like that.

I also say leave it how it is unless you can think of some alternative way of lotting that isn't biased or unrealistically unfair. That is in my opinion the biggest hurdle towards making a change.

If your looking for ideas you could set a percentage -- and if someone fails to make that percentage you would take the difference between where they are and where they need to be and have them /random after each piece that they want drops. If they don't random for above that amount then they don't get to lot.

TL;DR version: 50% is the amount required to attend, someone came to 40% of the runs. 50-40 = 10%. 10% of 1000 (the lot system put up to 1000 instead of 999) is 100. That person must /random above 100 in order to lot. This would make it slightly more difficult for someone who shows up less, but not horribly so. Rather fitting considering they are in Dynamis at that moment fighting for us?

Correct me if I'm wrong but this is Ultima Dynamis with selected invitees?

I think that "Ultima + Invitees" was the intent, but on a number of runs, the "invitees" equal or outnumber the Ultima members--which is fine.

Our last run, for example:

17 Ultima, 14 Invitees

Kazukas (m)
Kieri (m)
Lilmarz thf free pup
Makenshi drg
Nirian mnk
Pixiehawk (m)
Quinth brd free
Redd (m)

Thankfully, some of those invitees show up nearly 100% of the time and are extremely reliable. Others (I can pick out four names that are in red above) I've never heard of before and can't recall seeing (I'm not quite bored enough to dig through attendance and find them).

As far as points and further complication goes--I'd honestly rather keep it the same than force the issue. I see the reasoning for looking at more strict rules--It's unfortunate, but a simple "need before greed" doesn't seem to work with most people.

I know, personally, I get annoyed when I see the TWO items I need go to others when I haven't missed a single run (*cough* except the very first one *cough*) and only having one job that I can lot for (SAM AF2 is full of fail). But, that's cool because in most cases, the items do go to those who keep showing up. With enough time, it evens out. :)

Dynamis is the last thing I really enjoy in FFXI. With my schedule, it's about the only thing I have time to log in and do anymore. I'd rather see as much loot get handed out as possible than contriving the rules. Everyone ends up with something, which is cool--and hopefully those who just show up for the runs they "need" will eventually be guilted into showing up for not-as-fun runs like Windy. :D

0.02gil : Keep things how they are and reassess in another 90 days--see how gear is evening out, etc.

edit: Edited lots after rereading and trying to not make someone cry.
