Lord of Verminion (Lov) takes a lot of resources for something that isn't very popular. Each minion needs it's own stats and abilities. So my thought is: take everything about LoV and create a new minigame. Minion Tactics!
It's a turn-based grid based battler similar to Final Fantasy Tactics, where instead of having characters you have minions. The objective is to destroy the enemy crystal at the other end of the map. Similar to LoV, you can bring in minions at various gates that you control around the map, which can be destroyed by the opponent.
Both the gates and the crystal is resistant to damage (especially the crystal) until the enemy shield has been destroyed. The Search Eye shows a large portion of the map, but if it's destroyed you can only see what your minions can see (similar to a traditional RTS).
Minion stats and abilities are largely the same. You can only field so many minions at a time based on the points (again similar to Lov), so choosing the right minion is essential. The stars displayed for speed are now used to show how many grids that minion can move. Abilities no longer require 4 of the same type to be near each other, and require the minion to participate in battle to build action points which can then be used on abilities.
Minion types and strengths and weaknesses still exist. Type advantage gives a 50% bonus to damage, type disadvantage gives a 50% reduction to damage. Damage calculation is:
((ATK-DEF)+Cost) x Bonus (ensures that at least some damage always is done).
90% of the work has already been done, and the upkeep cost has already been allocated for LoV. This just adds another way for the system that is already being developed to be interacted with.
