Struggling With Loneliness

Before you downvote, no I didn't accidentally post to /ffxiv instead of /offmychest.

I figured I'd see if anyone else struggles with this issue that Ive been dealing with for. . .almost the entirety of my time playing this game.

This game makes me, more than a lot of other games, feel really hyped about having friends and companions and comrades in battle and all such things. You have the Scions that have this incredible character development as you go through the story, and it really gets you hyped about having these people that "your" character is connected to.

. . . The only issue is, the only time I ever get to experience these highs are during cutscenes. I see my character and the other characters interacting, and I really feel drawn into the experience. . . then as soon as I go back to the real game its just:

"Well. . .back to the lonely grind again"

And the real kicker in this is seeing how many people have friends to play with, or at the least have a community to be a part of. But almost every time I join an FC and try and have conversation or run some stuff with people, it almost always devolves into a boring experience and I wind up trying to find somewhere where I can actually fit in.

Maybe I'm complaining needlessly when I should just keep looking for a community to play with. . . but honestly I'd really be happy with just finding three or four people to play with and have a small, crappy FC. But finding people at the same level and same motives as me play-wise is hard.

TL;DR VERSION:

What are some of the ways you cope with loneliness in FFXIV? And in what ways have you experienced both the loneliness and the highs of "adventuring together" atmosphere?
