I’d like to note: when I suggest reusing assets already in the game, for many of you this will feel like a cop-out but in reality, the easier it is for the devs to produce the more likely we are to see any of this. Just saying.

Structured Proposal for FFXIV Wedding Event Revamp (Updated 2020)

OVERVIEW

New Venues:

Haukke Manor (ARR – Fall / Halloween Themed)
Saint Reymanaud’s Cathedral (HW – Winter / Christmas Themed)
Kugane Castle (SB – Spring / New Year’s Themed)

UPDATE: Lyhe Ghiah (ShB – Summer / Midsummer’s Night Theme)

New Packages:

Standard Plan – Same (free wristlet)

Gold Plan – Includes your choice of fully-unlocked Sanctum of the Twelve (the previous Gold and Platium Packages), or the new ARR Venue, Haukke Manor.

Platinum Plan – Includes your choice of venue from the Gold Plan or your pick from either St. Reymanaud’s Cathedral or Kugane Castle (full Venue unlock – choose one).

UPDATE: Lyhe Ghiah to be added to Platinum Package

New Option for the happily wed:

Free Renewing of vows to remain the same. However options to renew in any of the new venues without prerequisite quests to be added for couples who only want to experience the new locations and receive the new items.

Note: Must have active ring in inventory (automatic exemption).

New Items:

Each new venue will have new items to collect and/or purchase from event vendors.

Haukke Manor: Ruined version of ARR wedding attire with Void palette swap (black accents, instead of white). Ruined/Zombie versions of Bridesmaid/Best Man attire (can be purchased at event vendor ONLY with valid invite in inventory). Black Pillion with ruined barding in void palette. Furniture item Void Lamp (please no more cake). Book with teeth minion (like the NPC item from the 61-70 SMN quest) or Succubus Minion (palette swap from GC version).

St. Reymanaud’s Cathedral: New gown and suit based off Ishgardian/Coerthan designs (contest maybe? Should have fur accents). Dyeable versions of male and female NPC nobility outfits for bridal party (purchased at event vendor with valid invite in inventory). White two-seater dragon mount. Furniture item Frozen Pond (slide effect when walked on). Baby dragon or dragonet minion.

Kugane Castle: New gown and suit based off Doman/Hingan designs (contest?). Dyeable versions of NPC kimono for bridal party—with hair accessories (event vendor purchase). Enchanted Parasol mount (single person float effect, slightly different holds/emote for male/female). Furniture item Hingan strung lanterns (wall-items that can be hung to intersect). Instead of minion, personal Sakura effect or mini firework effect.

UPDATE: Lyhe Ghiah: Titania Dress and Anec Thon Suit. Winged versions of Bridesmaid/Best Man attire (event vendor purchase). Two seater Kelpie mount (the water horse). Furniture item Lakeland Chandelier (made from Lakeland tree branches with falling petal effect). Red butterfly minion.

(Note: these are examples and completely interchangeable)

New Quests:
Each new venue will have a new set of quests to complete to test the couple’s devotion and resolve
UPDATE: I’ve kept these simple—just instanced content runs with couple—original ARR wedding to remain the Pilgrimage of the Twelve)

Haukke Manor: Once again the Steward of House Dartancours seeks your aid, though this time it is from beyond the grave. His last words are recorded in a letter, addressed to you. The halls of the manor, once exorcised, now groan and whisper with unrest. Before his passing, the Steward found a parcel of letters among his Lady’s things. He bades you return to Haukke Manor, but the Adder reports the home now swarming with demons and voidsent. Thankfully, you are a tested adventurer and so are your colleagues. Call upon them to re-enter the Manor and deal the infestation so you might recover these letters and end the mystery once and for all.

Requires a synced run of Haukke Manor (Hard Mode) with couple, both with Key Item in inventory.

Key Item: Boudoir Key

St. Reymanaud’s Cathedral: You are summoned by Lord Aymeric when he hears you are in Ishgard. Since the end of the Dragonsong War, he has been attempting to reclaim various places that had been abandoned in the wake of the calamity and the Dusk Vigil has so far been a thorn in his side. Realizing you are in Ishgard to be wed, he implores you to take a trinket of love from the late Ser Yuhelmeric’s bride to the Vigil in order to soothe the once pious knight’s raging spirit so the Vigil may be reclaimed and honor given to those who served there.

Requires a synced run of Dusk Vigil with couple, both w+ith Key Item in inventory.

Key Item: Peacelily Brooch

Kugane Castle: The East Aldenard Trading Company sends its regrets that Kugane Castle is again overrun by disgruntled Shinobi, and cannot be used for your nuptials (or anyone else’s, for that matter). Though the city recognizes you as its Hero, there is little anyone can do save for offer a generous bribe to the heavily armed squatters. Finding someone to deliver said bribe is proving to be difficult. Shrewd as always, Hancock suggests that perhaps you and your significant other be the ones to deliver the bribe, thus securing your honor among the Kugane elite and a magnificent place to exchange your vows.

Requires a synced run of Kugane Castle with couple, both with Key Item in inventory.

Key Item: Heavy Coffer

UPDATE: Lyhe Ghiah: Your beautiful branch has heard of your nuptials and insists they play host to this joyous occasion. However the pixies of Il Mheg have long-missed their games and with the help of the Fuath, steal your wedding garments; hiding them deep within Don Mheg. “Oh what fun! I mustn’t help you, that would be cheating,” says the King when you ask for their aid. Having little choice but to indulge the tricksters, you and your love must make your way through Don Mheg once more, so you might be wed in the splendor of Lyhe Ghiah in something nicer than your adventuring gear.

Requires a synced run of Don Mheg with couple, both with Key Item in inventory.

Key Item: Pixie Charm

New Wedding System:

The option to pick colors and music to be available only with the original Wedding Venue, and simply have these new ones decorated according to their theme, with set of music selections from their linked areas/dungeon. This will make developing these new venues easier, as tweaking of the old one will not be necessary (except in the case of Renewing Vows where the prerequisite quests are removed). This includes the ring part, and the choice of officiants. For these new venues, a themed ring (same teleport effect) will be included and a set wedding ceremony will be performed, unique to each venue but with no variants like the original wedding. This will keep the original ARR Wedding a desirable choice for those who want the full experience and allow more freedom when adding the other venues—so no one has to pick apart old code. (Or at least, keep that at a minimum).

Thank you for your consideration. Please feel free to pick apart this proposal in the comments, or feel free to add your own tweaks. (The Quest stuff was especially hard to come up with. Surely someone has something better).
