Post here if you would like to sponser. Can't be sure that whoever wants to sponser will sponser but would like to know how many members want to and see if it is possible to get everyone a chance.

Also post on average how much you could sponser a month.

I would like to sponsor. I could sponsor once or twice a month.

I would like to see Gunman get most of the first month or so, he's very nearly paid in full, ~1,000ish to pay back iirc. 3-4 runs should do it.

Sassafras also indicated to me that she wants to sponsor a few months ago, is this still the case?

Really not decided if i want to do a relic now or not.

I felt a Kraken was just as good a relic and sold my currency to obtain one. Was waiting around for one to pop up in bazaar then SE nerfed 2 handed weapons and the price of Krakens almost doubled.

i'm sitting around on a nice amount at the moment and while i feel i have the right crafts to help support me finance gil to sponsor i still want to get a Kraken for zerging reasons.

What are your thoughts on sponsoring to sell currency to obtain a Kraken?

I personally like the idea of having 2~4 Krakens in the shell for the DRKs mainly.

There was someone shouting in Whitegate the other night that they had a Kraken for sale for 57 million, but to /tell to negotiate. No idea how that went.

Yeah the new price seems like its 50mil.

Last one i seen in bazaar was 50mil also and it sold >.>

I don't think a Kraken is that worth it for the amount of gil it costs.

True, it is the best zerg weapon for Drk, however, how many mobs do we zerg as an LS?

In addition B. Zaghnal is free. It may not be as good as a Kraken however with a properly merited Drk it pumps out excellent numbers and still allows for Drk to be a beast in any zerged fight. Throw a number of Zagh Drk's at Kirin, Bahamut and w/e else you want to Zerg and the fight is still going to end in very short order. Just don't see the point in shelling out that much money when that option exists.

Besides that, it reminds me entirely too much of what we did in purchasing a Thf Knife for the LS. We spent 35m on one of them I think, or maybe 30m, only to have it become the biggest joke item to get only a couple months later? Don't think buying those types of items is a wise investment.

I just wanted to say,

sponsors

also is this just a random sponsoring deal? like hay dudz i want to sponsor even though i wont have my relic at this rate for another 2 years? or are we going to try to focus on someone that has the resources and get one relic sooner than 3 or 4 spread out between a span of 2 years?

My suggestion on #'s is keep it focussed on 2 people so that relics make noticeable progress. Assuming the sponsor gets the initial 300 currency that still leaves some room for those picking up excess currency to make some progress and you could always throw in an 'open' run or two a month for just some diversity.

I see your point garret but that can be said for most the relics available =o

Atleast it not EX like relics and if i did sponsor it would be solely with my gil only wouldn't be funded by LS.

I might as well put my interest to sponsor out there but not now for the time being.

Not sure I am understanding what you mean about most relics available. I'm saying that whether it's a horn, h2h, spear, staff or anything and whether funded by the player or the LS or selling currency that I think it makes more sense for who gets the sponsored runs to be focussed so that the LS is able to see more relics sooner. Sorry if that's off topic to what you meant.

People who will be sponsering will be limited. Just wanted to see who all wants to. At this point only looks like 4 people unless i am missing someone. At this point in time I wouldn't want to see any currency sold by a sponser. Even if its going to one other thing kinda like relic. Just doesn't seem right for some reason. And I agree with Garret on what he said. Kinda got into the same debate with Gun over AV drops and how well a KC is.

maybe should start a talk topic somewhere else but for a item that takes only have the time to get and can be traded.

Well, assuming it's just a hard cap and not a cap on the various forms of haste... The max potential with 2500 HP, 100% acc, 80% haste, 7% DA, and 2.5% TA look like this for the following 2h weapons:

Bahamut's Zhagnal: ~38 swings for ~12540 damage
Fortitude Axe: ~28 swings ~10830 damage
Apocalypse: ~19 swings for ~9120 damage
Rune Chopper: ~19 swings for ~7790 damage

And, under the same assumptions (except of course, with only 68.3% haste), these are the values for 1h weapons:

Kraken Club: ~96 swings for ~29760 damage
Ridill: ~48 swings for ~16320 damage
M. Kris: ~59 swings, for about 18000 damage.

All are over the course of 30s. The values above are all under absolutely perfect circumstances, and as such are just about impossible to reach... But they reflect the relations between them pretty accurately.

Edit.

can you explain the THF knife thing? people bring this up but i wasn't in LS at the time.

Thf knife used to cost 30m or so because it was a rare drop from an NM. Then SE made the knife easy as shit to get, so everyone has one now.

Ah, really can't see that happening to Kraken.

Fixed heading for you, you owe me ;p

Kraken is indeed hands down the most damage, but B. Zagh is far from 'bad' damage. Still more than enough to destroy any zerged mob. Given that I just have a difficult time selling off Dynamis currency for one.

In general I am against selling currency for other items also because imo it raises a bit of a slippery slope problem as to what else to sell currency for. I think the LS acquiring more relics is a good idea and selling currency essentially gives that up for different goals. Just raising the counter argument though, if people are for it then that's fine.
