Newest setup quests for Evercold showed off the new character Visna and it very much seems like she's a tease for the new job, being some kinda ranged crossbow user with a falcon familiar.
Lotta theories going around however that because the job has effectively been revealed without a big moment at fanfest that it's actually a red herring, and the newest DPS job will be something different, with the idea being that it's too ealy for the DPS job to be revealed.
The thing is though...why would they do a rugpull in this instance? The idea of a falconer class or one that uses a crossbow is, from what I can tell, really exciting for a lot of players and people seem really hyped about it.
"Fakeouts" in marketing only really works if the end product is seen as "Better" than the initial thing teased but game classes don't really work like that. If they said we're NOT getting the falconer class, then all they'd really be doing is upsetting the people that were excited for that class, which is a not-unsubstantial number of players. It just doesn't make sense and feels like they'd be shooting themselves in the foot, which they DEFINITELY don't want to do with jobs, which are a selling point for expansions.
And yes, they did kinda rugpull green mage and bit for pictomancer in Dawntrail with that earring tease but like, there's a big different between "Jewelry that looks similar to a job symbol from ealrier games" and "Character with an entire job's worth of new animations." as far as teases go. If anything the dissapointment we didn't get green mage is all the more reason they won't do a rugpull here, cause they've probably learnt from feedback that players don't like it and it's not worth it.
I think they'll be something spicy about the new DPS job that gets revealed at fanfest, but I honestly don't see them scrapping the job concept presented with Visna in favor of a different one
