Does anyone else think that Wicked Thunder/Eutrope is a perfect culmination of what’s so fucked up about Alexandrian culture?
Disclaimer: this is under the assumption that the stakes of the raid series are real, and that the theory of everything, from the nekro-something (I just call it soul cancer) to the “can only fight until twenty”, is just fake wrestling drama is false.
When I saw the end of Dawntrail, I absolutely hoped and prayed that upcoming story content would tackle the inherent cesspool of Alexandria’s fucked up culture. The fact that Alexandrians had absolutely no issue with the fact that the souls they’re using to one-up themselves were from an invasion where innocent people were killed and harvested is fucked up. It goes to show how polluted and fucked up the culture was before Zoraal Ja ever touched down into Alexandria. And now, we see it culminate in Eutrope.
Eutrope came into the Arcadion to look after her sisters after their parents disappeared, but judging by her fame and her theme song, she seems to have enjoyed the lifestyle quite well. Keep in mind, it’s already public knowledge that feral soul usage harms the user’s body to the point where they have to stop by 20. Suddenly, Eutrope finds out that repeated feral soul usage gives you soul cancer basically, and is outraged at this. So, she disappears, before coming back and trying to take OUR soul so she can still live. And when she loses, she still doesn’t give up and demands it, labeling herself as a victim because of her soul cancer.
I don’t know about everyone else, but I think Eutrope is the perfect avatar for the latent shittiness that the culture created. She narcissistically demands you give up YOUR soul because she was lied to about the soul cancer, BUT still knowing full well that feral soul usage was harmful to the body. It’s like everyone knows that smoking hurts your body, but no one knows about lung cancer. Eutrope’s out here smoking packs like candy DESPITE the known fact that it can’t be continued past a certain age, and suddenly when she’s told she has cancer, she gets uppity and mad and tries to kill someone for their lungs.
Let me be clear, I’m not saying this is bad writing. This is a great way to show how absolutely cooked Alexandrians are if the patch story doesn’t take us down the route of weaning them off of their regulators. And I for one can’t wait to see Eutrope absolutely eat it in the later part of the raid story.
