I recently beat Shadowbringers, and the more I think about it and ponder on the events, the more things I find myself wondering over. So;
With this, I mean what would've been the play if we didn't get overwhelmed by the light at the end? Emet does idly talk about the possibility of us being a part of the restored, 'whole' world during the MSQ, 'joining them', so to say. But, if we could handle the light, I see two outcomes,
A) We halt the crisis of the First and stop the rejoining, and are able to start working on restoring balance (Eden), there is no longer the balance of light and dark that they need and crisis/loss of life on both the first and the source to create a rejoining, and the entire plan of the Ascians goes to waste?
B) We halt the crisis of the first and don't stop the rejoining, because there is still a massive imbalance between light and dark, and the entire First is still lost in the rejoining, and we basically lose, and all was for nothing. And in the end, nothing ended differently as compared to pre-timetravel Black Rose calamity/rejoining.
--------
My second question is more... pointless and just idle pondering
Like... Where are those planets and fractured beings in the grand scheme of things? Are the remaining planets like the First in the same universe as the Source? Are they in a different universe/dimension that split off from the Source?
I'm wondering this because no matter what, I can't think of an answer that doesn't come without its own share of problems, lore-wise.
If the split put the planets somewhere in our universe, then technically could we or a dragon king like Midgardsormr not travel to them? How do they explain the jump made at the start of Shadowbringers?
If the split instead basically took a snapshot of the universe at that moment and then split off in its own timeline/dimension like this: https://i.imgur.com/4PSOdiC.png, completely isolated from each other... Then isn't more than just the planet and the beings on it split into 14? Does that not mean the conflict between Hyda and Zodiark split the entire fucking universe into 14, and in doing a rejoining, they're causing the death of an entire universe too?
Because if the planets aren't in the same universe as The Source, then where are they? They very clearly are in a galaxy with countless stars and suns, as evident by the night sky, so the split didn't just create shards, it had to also create entire galaxies or universes for these splits to exist in, which just seems unfathomable in scale because it's literally infinity, and it's hard to imagine these primals would have THAT much power, if they could do such a thing.
I just can't make sense of it. If they're in the same universe as the Source, just distance between them, then it... just doesn't make a lot of sense with them talking about how time flows differently between the shards and everything, yet if the First isn't in the same universe or galaxy as the Source, then... what universe did it get placed into? and if not that, then how on earth was one created for it? And if one wasn't created, but it took a snapshot of the universe at the split and split off in its own 'dimension', then an entire universe is killed off in a rejoining... and also every living being in the universe is also split into 1/14...
I'm rambling, and probably could've worded this way shorter and better, but it's hard to wrap my head around all this, and I'd like to know if there's some information I did not pick up on, or misinterpreted, so I can understand and enjoy the lore of the world better.

- What exactly was the plan with seeing if we could absorb enough light instead of just murdering us from the start or stopping us? How would that change the rejoining? Would we be able to save the first yet give the ascians what they wanted? Did Emet really just hope to find a friend in his lonely existence?

- How exactly did the split work?
