Okay. I only bought FFXIV three days ago and I'm not going to lie to anyone about this. I'm kinda upset at how difficult it is to sign up and download the game and literally everything. For such a popular game it's so easy to quit before you even get to the character creation. I spent those three days basically crying and trying to fix my issues with FFXIV. But now, after countless hours spent crying, I found my solution.
First off, take a moment and just breathe and calm down. If you've cried three days straight over this game you need to have a few minutes, even an hour if you need it, to just calm down. After that, take out your phone and look up 'Final Fantasy XIV Free Trial.' Right now, whether or not you have a Square Enix account or bought the game does not matter. It will, but not right now. You need to click on sign up for the free trial on your phone. Fill out the information and once the account is created you'll get a screen on your phone that says something along the lines of you needing to go to your laptop.
Go to your laptop, computer, whatever. Download the game from the link. It doesn't matter if the link is from the free trial or from an email they sent you for the full game that you bought. In the end, you have the buy the base game if you didn't already. Anyways, after you download it sign into the game and you should get to a page where you have to put in your registration code. You'll find that code by (after you buy the game) going to the email that SE sent you with the link that leads you to the game's activation and download. Type in your key and your game should start downloading. Once it's done downloading then close the game out.
After you do that, go to Mogstation on your phone and click 'transfer to full game.' When it's time, put in the activation key once again and you should be at the transfer complete page after confirming it. Then you need to go back to your laptop/computer and open the game back up and it should be fixed.
At least, that's how I fixed it. Feel free to leave more solutions in the comments or ask questions there. When I say to go on your phone you need to be on your phone or else it won't work. Moral of the story? When in doubt, do it on your phone.
