In the last zone of DT, the MSQ mainly deals with the endless, beings recreated from the memory data of deceased people. This sounds very similar if not outright the same as the aliens Omicrons replicated from the memory data of extinct aliens, during the Omicron society/tribal quests. While the method of achieving it is different, the nature of the resulting recreated people/aliens sounds the same.
However, we were told to treat their existence differently in each case.
For endless, we were told to treat them as "facsimiles" and not alive. Therefore, we should not feel guilty to "erase" them.
In the case of Omicron society quests, we were told that despite being recreated from the data, we should treat them as alive.
This seems like a double standard.
Of course, the above is not to say that we should condone the Alexandrian method of recreating the endless. Their method is unsustainable and we condemn them for it.
However, this begs another question. Our esteemed scions did not once research the possibility of preserving the endless with an alternative energy source. I know the Alexandrians were unable to find a way, but our learned scions might offer a different perspective.
For example, couldn't we just give the memory data of the endless to the Omicrons? Let the Omicrons recreate the endless like they did with all the other aliens.
Even if it were not feasible, it seems quite weird to me that we simply jump to erasing them, before doing due diligence on finding an alternative.
