Do the Critical Hit Rate +15% from Thunder/Jupiter's Staves increase ranged critical rate as well?

If so, doesn't the increased crit rate alone make this a better weapon than Vulcan's Staff for ranged attacks?

Edit: Hmmm.. usually when a weapon has crit rate increase on it, it's just for that specific weapon.

If the crits apply to ranged, then jesus christ that's a million times better than Att +15 and STR+5 lol. But yea, just use the parser should be simple to test.

And yes, while it's true that some weapons apply only to the specific weapon, it isn't always true. Take Trollbane, for example.

There's very little information known about ranged crits, primarily because the old parser didn't parse them.
 
I don't know, much of a ranger's damage comes from Sidewinder and Slug Shot, which would not be aided by the crit rate, so I don't think it would perform as well as you're hoping.
 
Yea, but still. Att+15 and STR+5 ok, so that might increase your Sidewinder damage by 40-50 if you're lucky. Usually you won't even notice. A single crit will almost double that attack's damage, and when your attacks are already 130-150, it should add up to be a huge difference. When I merit on THF over 50% of my damage is Mercy Stroke, but I'd take +15% crit in an instant. Not to mention that it would affect the chance of Sidewinder critting.
 
Sidewinder and Slug shot do not crit.
 
range critical does about 25% more than the base and no where near as good as a melee crit attack. Adding +5 str is easily noticeable eve on EP stuff since range attack damage is pretty consistent if youre not messing with the mobs def. Our delay is long enough as it is so I rather have consistent damage than hoping for a crit.

Ranged crits suck. They are a straight damage+25% (unlike the rate+1.0 on melee crits). +crit gear for RNG is generally not worth the slot you carry it in.

Even if Thunder Staff does work on ranged, it'd be a tough sell.

Slugwinder can't crit. The only ranged WS that might be able to crit is Arching/Heavy; I say that only because the description says so (and one of the recent updates purportedly adjusted its crit rate).
