I think raid buffs should stay in Evercold. I agree that the 2 minute meta should go as its restrictive even though I personally never really minded it. But I don't think that means that all synergy actions should bite the dust.
We need to go back to a Stormblood style of 60s NIN, 90s BRD, 180s DRG, 120s DNC and make part of the skill ceiling picking a party that suits the burst timings of the party. Have a NIN? Well MCH is the phys ranged for you because it can hold gauge and battery for odd minute trick attack and has odd minute tool dump. Parties can also show skill expression in whether or not they choose to hold buffs to sync up rather than being forced into a meta.
To me this is the answer it breaks the 2 minute mold and let's jobs be doing something different at different times without nuking buffs all together. If your buffs come up during downtime its a great way to optimise and work around it or bring another job in your role that better suits the fight. (This should have been the case in M7s instead of making RDM melee combo ranged and taking away identity it should have been a case of not every job is good in every fight and thats okay but I digress)
I personally can't imagine a job like DNC in a buffless world for example. Dance partner is such a big part of its identity and I don't see it making it into evolved mode and thats sad. Buffs also promote party synergy which is important in this co-op game, it separates parties that play well together and those who don't. So make buffs have different timers and cooldowns and make parties work harder for their synergy and damage boosts. Thats skill expression imo.
Killing buffs all together isn't the answer in my opinion but thats just me and this is just late night rambling on the forums.
