TL;DR: Intel has just confirmed another new issue has been discovered on their 14x00 and 13x00 desktop cpus that may cause instabilities. Upgrade your bios and microcodes and also wait for more updates coming mid next month (August) and install these ASAP.
As there has been several spurious reports in here where people where affected by this, I wanted to make this little PSA. Please note that even if you have a super stable system with the same affected cpus, you still should follow the advice herein and update your systems' bios and microcode as soon as Intel releases it (which is slated to be mid August). Not doing this could cause slow silent degradation of the cpu damaging it over time.
Affected cpu's:
As this is a generic cpu instability issue, it's hard to precisely state the exact result of it. But it has been seen that generic directX issue, crashes in the direct X layer as well as anything that looks as if it's a graphics card issue when in reality it was corrupted data loaded into it by the cpu.
If you have serious instabilities and crashes while playing ffxiv currently, it may also help if you use a tool like Intels XTU and disable some cores and/or reduce the generic mulitplier from x55 by 1 to 3. This lowers total performance of your system but may make it stable until the microcode fix by Intel is available.
Intels statement: Video about it, what to do and - depending on hardware - how to test:
