Proposal: Bringing back the PLL

Back in the day, Yoshida communicated with players with "letters from the producer"(PLL) in addition to "letters from the producer live"(PLL Live). Those were released as forum posts in all 4 supported languages at the same time.

As an example, you can see the Japanese, English, German, and French version of PLL 62 were all released at the same time.

PLL has several benefits over PLL Live.
  • PLL respects players' time more than PLL Live. The players can read the PLL much faster than they can watch the PLL Live. While PLL Live might be hours long, players can read a PLL in minutes.
  • It is easier for developers to get feedback from PLL than PLL live. Whereas most responses to PLL tend to be in the form of forum posts, most responses to PLL Live are in the form of stream comments. Considering those comments scroll so fast during the stream, it can be harder for developers to read them compared to forum posts.
  • PLLs treat different language users more fairly than PLL Lives do. As seen from the above example, PLLs are posted in all 4 supported languages at the exact same time. On the other hand, PLL Lives tend to be only available in Japanese. While unofficial translation exists, they cannot be expected to be of the same quality as official ones. Sometimes this can lead to confusion among non-Japanese communities, e.g., the "cost" controversy from PLL Live 87.

Hence, PLL is a better format for the developer to communicate with players than PLL Live. Please bring it back.
