August is the month for Hanabi (Fieworks) -- There are large fireworks displays every weekend in different parts of Tokyo. We went to two of the shows plus one that we saw a few nights ago here in the countryside.

The one in the video, could have been the Tokyo bay show.... if they filmed that from their Shinjuku office.
 
ahh I love fireworks.. a whole month hmm lol now I know when to visit Tokyo

Most of the shows are about 1 to 2 hours long. The main part of the show is demonstrations of various fireworks designs for competition. Then, they have some random fireworks during the middle of the show and then a grand finale that shows off the largest combination of big, small and flashy fireworks.

I've got a video of one the finales we saw two weeks ago, let me see if I can find it.
