(Edit: Rephrasing the title, it is not dominating the ENTIRE economy, just most competitive items worth over 20k.)
I noticed a pattern that whenever I adjusted my market board prices, someone would undercut me by 1 gil consistently. I noticed that even if I adjusted my prices, no less than 15 minutes later, someone had undercut me by 1 gil. I looked at the signature of the crafter's name of the item that is for sale, and it is constantly the same player. This person is selling 90% of the items I sell, and majority of items on the MB that sell for over 20k.
I did some further inspection to see if they were online. I would never message them directly because I don't want to harass anyone but it makes me very upset that I can't sell anything on the MB. The economy is ruined for my experience, I cannot babysit my prices every 10 minutes throughout the day. Some people have jobs and lives to live outside the game.
I found that the crafter is in a free company, made up of 9 characters. One of the characters is level 80 crafting on every class, and only leveled as a WHM to 71. All other alts and varying battle/magic classes below level 30 - which leads me to suspicion that it is singular separate characters leveled high enough to just sell things. I see their crafted signature on items being sold by 40 separate retainer names.
Upon further inspection I saw the alts logged in standing around in Limsa Lominsa Lower Deck (in Hawker's Alley). One of the alts would log in, stand by the bell for about 10 min, log out, then I would see another one log in almost immediately to do the same thing. I saw my prices get undercut every 10-15 minutes like clockwork.
I sent a report to Square. Has anyone else had experiences like this? I noticed some other posts of similar experiences, but I'm not sure what the outcome was as a whole.
It is just extremely discouraging to me. It makes me not even want to try to sell things. I can't keep up with bot behavior. It almost makes me want to stop playing the game entirely. Selling crafted items on the MB was my main source of income and now it has become impossible for me to sell most competitive items (edited: I said prior that it prevented me from making gil which is false, I was just discouraged)
TLDR; someone is using 2 accounts to craft/sell and undercut like clockwork with bots every 5-10 minutes, making it impossible to compete. They are selling 90% of things on the MB. Is there anything else I can do other than reporting them to square? Can they get banned?
