It's been almost a year since this post my brother made in August of 2019. A lot has changed since then. Over that year, I switched from a SCH into playing as a melee DPS (MNK and DRG). He stayed a SMN over it all. I got into Savage raiding, he kept it as casual play experience. I got immersed into this games RP scene, he kept everything bound to Content and MSQ. We lived a long ways apart so we mostly played FFXIV and Animal Crossing together in any off time we shared.
However, today I awoke to a call from my mother telling me my brother had gone missing. He'd been last seen on at his work on a Wednesday, I was talking to him ingame on a Thursday, and he didn't show up for work on a Saturday. Turns out that he'd been long deceased since Friday... He died in a hit and run during a mid-day jog. His body was too disfigured from the accident to identify. He never jogged with any identification, only his phone on him. He spent days as an unidentified body till my mother was able to identify him later that evening.
There's a lot we missed out on over the year, and I've many regrets on not being able to live up to all of the promises we'd made over it all. I'll miss being able to pet my brother ingame mirroring what he would do to me IRL. I'll miss telling him what's in the next upcoming update(s) and experiencing it all with him at a later date. I'll miss him just being there in my life.
My FC lost a fellow Warrior of Light. My family lost a son. I lost my only brother.
Rest in Peace my brother, for I will carry the memory of you forever.
