Normally I would have finished an Expansion by now, even as someone who plays very slowly and was taking my time enjoying the new expansion. When I got to the end of the rite of succession, my dad suddenly ended up in the hospital, and died of pancreatic cancer we didn't know he had.
The next day, I unknowingly walked into the Zalool Ja/Galool Ja Ja cut scene. Yes that one. Que me crying like a giant baby the whole scene.
I have spent the rest of the expansion crying during pretty much every cutscene. Crying my way through Alexandria as they talk about loss. Crying my way through the Namikka cutscene, etc. I'm struggling to finish the game because I'm having to stop to process my own grief alongside Wuk Lamat and the others as the story continues about this beautiful conversation about how we handle death and loss.
10/10 expansion, FFXIV team, that apparently dropped exactly when I needed it to. Now if I can play for more than about an hour before I turn into a ball of tears, I'll get to finish and go level my crafters.
