Moonfire Faire 2026: One of the Most Boring Events Ever

I honestly don't know what else to say.

We had a nice surprise with the Valentione's Day event. It felt like SE was finally going back to the old, fun minigames. Making cakes was fun, and having to run the event two or three times to get all the rewards felt perfectly reasonable. It was a HUGE breath of fresh air compared to the boring "talk to 2-3 NPCs for five minutes and you're done" formula.

Then, Little Ladies' Day gave us another minigame where we had to participate in a FATE in Ul'dah and cheer for our favorite performer. It was a little less fun than making cakes, but still enjoyable and way better than simply talking to a few NPCs.

Then Hatching-tide came with another nice minigame: cutting grass and trying to get a high score. You could get all the rewards in a single run, but it was still fun to challenge ourselves and see how many points we could get. Again, it was something original and enjoyable.

Then, as usual, we had the huge gap until the next event, Moonfire Faire (if we don't count Make It Rain).

For those of us who have been playing for a long time, Moonfire Faire used to have some of the best seasonal minigames. We've had amazing jumping puzzles and other actual activities to do. So I was really looking forward to this year's event and wondering what kind of minigame we would get...

And... nope.

Back to the same boring formula we've had for years: "Talk to three NPCs, run around for five minutes, do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, and you're done."

The water caravan could have been fun if there had actually been something for us to do. But no. It's basically magical, so we just... go along for the ride. And once it's over, we can repeat it, except this time we can change which NPC accompanies us?

Seriously?

Did SE get another cut to their staff or budget? Was the CEO's speech at the end of the first Fan Festival just big talk with nothing behind it? What happened to giving Yoshi-P all the resources he needs for XIV?

And while we're already stuck in a very, very, VERY long wait for Evercold, with the delays between patches being way too long, maybe—just maybe—we could at least get a fun seasonal event that we can actually play, farm, and spend some time on?

But nope.

Instead, it feels like the budget has been cut to the absolute minimum again. Spend five minutes doing the event, get your rewards, and then go right back to the long wait for Evercold.

I'm honestly really disappointed by this event.
