Sometimes the story can be very standard and cliche. Not terrible, but pretty standard. But seeing my little guy in the cutscenes makes it so much better. Even if the cutscenes are a bit eh , seeing boi just look so happy/angry/sad always makes it worth it. Even if the story is eh its so comedic and great.
Not to say it ruins the emotional & heroic moments, because it doesn't. Lalafells look so fucking heartbroken, especially during THAT death in HW! And seeing me strut in without my knee caps, the music swelling, and tarter-sauce cheering during the Ishgardin trial by combat was my favorite moment so far.
