Hi, i played FF14 v1 when it came out but stopped when my friends moved on.
Recently i played an RPG maker game inspired by FFXI and that made me think i should give FF14 another try - thought and done.
I started with a Warrior bcs a like Limsa the most of all 3 Cities.
I honestly am not a friend of FF14 combat as it is all about "The Rotation" - master the rotation instead of master your opponent.
Well, the story so far kept me playing and that the Warrior is not much an annoyance to play.
I also played a RedMage bcs that was the Class i played in the FFXI inspired game.
At the end of the ARR MSQ when you are forced to raid i used the Red Mage bcs as sole tank without any knowledge of the raid mechanics i felt i would do a disservice to my fellow random raid members so i did DPS which is more forgiveable.
It took 3 days of waiting for the raids to happen, For 2 days i had some other stuff i could but the first 3 raid invitations were cancelled as someone did retract and it was late friday and after my online research when i discovered the raidfinders are language bound and i enabled all languages that i finally got through.
So i am back to Warrior and make it though Ishgard, first i get more than 50k xp per MSQ step but after the announced patch day it goes down to 5k xp per MSQ step and with almost 3 million xp needed to make it from 69 to 70 i do no longer have the motivation to proceed the hundreds of quests i would need to do to advance.
Which means i will stop at this point and no longer play FF14.
Additionals:
The Lodestone is unintuitive and confusing
The Classes seem not to be so different but very homogenized thus monotone aka boring
I am not fond the the Master the Rotation premise but would favour a Master your Opponent style like the Blue Mage has.
I am especially not fond of the state of the summoner class which is not a summoner at all
The amount of FX at the raid was blinding and confusing.
Well, my way ends here and i probably wont come back but maybe someone can make something out of my feedback.
Good Luck!
