After a lot of pushing from friends, I decided to drop other mmos to play Final Fantasy. I have to say, I'm impressed so far. Leaving WoW for this is a very healthy breath of fresh air. I dabbled in ESO for a while, but their money sinks (cash shop and battle pass) were exhausting. Guild Wars was fun, but coming back after not playing it for a decade was overwhelming. And I obviously do not need to mention WoW and it's uh "community". So far in FFO everyone has been super welcoming. I'm doing the main story but is their stuff I should do on the side? I started with Lancer because in the .hack games my favorite character was a similar class.
