We all know Zenos, as a character, is suffering from the "evil for the sake of it" flat character motivations. Which, unsurprisingly, has left people a bit nervous as to how we're going to tackle his arc after the indescribably amazing conclusion to Shadowbringers.
So, what changes would you guys make to either Zenos's character/personality, or to his arc in general that would make him a more interesting final villain?
For me, it would be as simple as revealing something about him or having him display something to make us feel....anything at all for him. More motivations other than "destroy the world for the WOL and I to have a battle". That's less of a motivation and more of a Point B.
As it stands now, he obviously doesn't feel anything at all and doesn't care about anything other than the Warrior of Light. Problem is, that's all that's been presented to us, so....we don't really care much about his motivations, or even him as a character, either. Which kinda makes him feel bland in comparison to the other "evil for the sake of evil" bad guys we've fought.
I'm not saying he needs a sympathetic angle, but he needs to make us feel literally anything other than "ugh not this guy again" if he's to be the focus of the next expansion. Make us genuinely afraid for how shit's going to go down like you did with Emet-Selch and Elidibus. Make us afraid of Zenos. He's built up to be our equal in strength - I want my jimmies properly rustled when I go to login.

- Vauthry - Was reared from the womb to be a divine tyrannical superior being and also act the part. He literally has no concept of anything else. He mocks us and throws tantrums when things don't go in a way he expects because he truly doesn't understand why his way isn't THE way. Doesn't excuse what he did, but I did feel a little sorry for him at the end. He truly doesn't understand people's motivations, and he's way too far gone to even be willing to learn.
- The Ascians - 'Nuff fucking said.
- Yotsuyo - Knew nothing but abuse her entire life, and her motivation for her actions was, at the end of the day, revenge. A child lashing out in rage and pain who only knew that she could be either hated or feared, and unsurprisingly went for the latter.
- Ilberd - (My least favorite, but here goes) He may have started his whole crusade with "For Ala Migho", but it very, very quickly devolved into "For Ilberd and maybe Ala Migho after I've taken a piss.". Point is, he had a motivation, but I think the writers sort of hint that even he might not have a clear idea of what he really wanted in the end.
