I've heard that staff take feedback on forums more seriously than whatever gets put on social media or reddit.
I am just posting this thread to provide simple feedback:
whatever issues there may be with this particular instance of exploratory content, I want to make it abundantly clear: usually people who LIKE a thing are less prone to show up to complain about it.
(It's the same reason why housing doesn't get built irl -- NIMBYs show up to city hall to shut it down)
In essence, I really like exploration content. I like Bozja, Eureka, and Occult Crescent.
I was bored out of my mind with Endwalker -- it was a far worse expansion as far as content was concerned. Sure, the team dropped criterion dungeons, and deep dungeon content, but a lot of the content that WAS dropped was primarily for small groups of 4 to 8 people to complete at a time.
I ended up PVPing against my will. But the nice thing about PVP is that it's one of the few communities in the game in which you could feel as if you are part of a community (via wolves den)
I'm happy with what Dawntrail has to offer so far.
What I enjoy about Bozja, Eureka, and Occult Crescent is there is a more freeform type of play and exploration. The grinding is not boring for some of us -- it's meditative. The grinding often results in bumping into people and making new friends as you pop CEs and Fates!
The problem with raid content is that it's filled up with a type of personality that just doesn't enjoy the process of failure on the way to learning and victory. It's not necessarily the best place to casually spend time with other people.
I love MMORPGs because I want to feel as if I am in a shared world. As an extravert, I want content that fulfills what made MMORPGs so fun for me: communities that can form around content IN the game, NOT on some chat server like discord.
So I'm only here to give the feedback:
Do not listen to all the haters who don't like exploration content. Maybe some people have honest feedback about ways to improve Occult Crescent and power to them; that's good feedback. But people that show up who should probably play a different endgame loop should just leave us alone and not complain to the point that we don't end up getting exploration content in the next expansion (like what happened in Endwalker, when staff took feedback against Bozja -- which i LOVED).
For others reading this thread who don't like Occult Crescent, Bozja, or Eureka: Not all content is for you. I don't show up to tell staff why we shouldn't have deep dungeons (which I hate, but we should keep it because other people like it). If you don't like a type of content, first look within and ask if it's fundamentally for you, before calling it a "failure" or whatever. Just, don't try to yuck my yum. I like this stuff.
Cheers,
Nava Savitra
