I got my Job stone slate tablet...without needing to spend a small fortune visiting the Eorzea Cafe.

My Fiancé and I attended the cafe in Tokyo 6 months ago, and we paid the entry fee, ordered a lot, and only filled out this much of the stamp card (see picture).

It felt a little unfair, as I am sure they didn't mark off some of the things we ordered - as they sometimes counted two plates/servings as a single stamp.

Though we still had an overall good time.

Now, like any self loathing Final Fantasy fan, a Dragoon has long since been my favourite class in any FF game where I could choose a job.

And the thought of having one of these stone tablets on display was awesome.

... But, I'm Australian, and the opportunities to attend the cafe aren't so frequent.

Also, we spent around $100 AUD to not even complete one line of the card.

Overall it was going to take around $700 to compete the card and receive my "free" gift.

Logistically, and practically, this wasn't a viable option for our circumstances.

I felt a little down, as you couldn't simply buy one of these from the Square Enix store. And I (seemingly) had no way to acquire one.

... Until this recent visit to Japan.

I asked ChatGPT if there was a way to aquire the tablet without needing to pay an arm and a leg for one, and it showed me this site:

https://jp.mercari.com

There, I searched for, and found quite a few of these tablets on sale for a fraction of the cost.

Essentially, many local Japanese attend the cafes and simply aquire the tablets, over time, organically. But they don't necessarily want them. Or, they see them as an opportunity to make some quick cash.

Some were selling for the equivalent of $40AUD.

I did pay $90 for mine - brand new. And it felt like a bargain, compared to the alternative.

I made an account and had it shipped in advance to a friend's house in Japan (where I knew I'd be staying). But I believe you could also have it shipped to a hotel you know you'll be staying at, as long as it's planned in advance.

I'm not 100% sure if they ship overseas, but you can communicate directly with the seller. I'm sure they will oblige if it's organised privately.

Anyway, I thought I'd share my little win with you all, in case anyone ever wanted one, but didn't have the means to aquire it organically.

All the best~

I'll promptly backflip off a ledge now...
