It was time for another Light Doman Open! This was the fourth Doman Mahjong Tournament on Light from Friday 2020-09-18 to Sunday 2020-09-20, with 31 participants from 14 countries. As always, this was a player event: it is not affiliated with FFXIV etc.
All games were on Odin. But players from other DC are always welcome to make an alt an join in on the fun!
Format
4+ Hanchan Round-Robin’ish. I hope we can make 8. But it depends on how many people attend.
Since I’m trying to accomodate players from all over the globe, the games don’t have necessarily be in one single block each day. Having more slots just helps a lot with not playing the same people each time.
All games will be played in Final Fantasy XIV Online as friendly matches “Four-player Mahjong (Kuitan Enabled)” on Data Center Light. After the game, the result should be screenshotted and sent to the organizer.
Rules
Most of these are the result of playing in Final Fantasy XIV Online.

- Red Fives
- Players start on 25,000 points and return 25,000 at the end the hanchan
- Points are divided by 1,000 at the end of the game (e.g. +3,400 becomes +3.4)
- Placement bonuses are +15 / +5 / -5 / -15
- In case multiple people end up on the same rank, the affected placement bonuses are added up and evenly distributed
- The hanchan ends if a player falls below zero points (tobi)
- South 4 Round also ends when dealership doesn’t pass (agariyame)
- Open tanyao is allowed (kuitan ari)
- 13 han and above is a Kazoe Yakuman, and multiple Yakuman are possible
- Double ron allowed, no headbump
- Abortive draws for
- 9 unique terminals/honours in starting hand (kyuushuu kyuuhai)
- same wind tile as the first 4 discards (suufon renda)
- 4 kans (suukaikan) and
- triple Ron (sanchahou)
- No abortive draw for 4 riichi (suucha riichi)
- Nagashi Mangan possible
- If a Players is late by more than ten minutes they are replaced by a substitute player for the hanchan. Subtituted player will receive -30 post ranking bonus regardless of how well or bad the replacement player fares.
