Ultima Limbus attendance really hasn't been the same since Negatron started. Losing your leadership in ultima limbus changed ultima limbus.

In regards to the coin pool and gil, what is the avg. number of coins on each run?
And is the average price ~12k in Bazaars?
The cost of limbus was the primary factor in why I could not attend regularly in the past. It was fun and I didn't mind the EXP loss, it was the gil piggy bank that really felt the pain. Granted, farming 60k for 2 runs a week is not that difficult, but if you are using gil for other activities outside of limbus, then it becomes a bit of a chore. If you sell your coins, then it's break-even I suppose.
We tried coin pooling in the past or at least talked about it, I don't think it made it out of the starting gate though. Would have to search the history on it.

Beyond that, there's Cyndel, Ara and Redd. Gun and Spear came recently but haven't really attended much at all. Tarja is starting to come again as well last I heard. I agree that 7-8 people can make an impact but I honestly think that Negatron is the least of the problems when it comes to Ultima's limbus runs.
I've almost always been able to recover my limbus costs with coins if I need them. The problem lies in trying to save up coins for items. It's a tough balance. What I would recommend is seeing if anyone wants to sponsor you on the nights you're lower.
In the end, any pooling or distribution that isn't done on a per run basis will lead to resentment on some level.
Limbus is one of the purest 'you get what you give' experiences in the game. In order to receive Homam or Nashira items, you need to spend half your time working on runs that will not benefit you in any way. While I'd love to just spam Apollyon, I'm happy doing Temenos runs because I know I'm helping out the people that helped me get through Apollyon. It's one of the only events in FFXI that really works that way.
I usually get 30k+ from simply NPCing all the crap I get from birdy camp merits. A lot of you merit so you must be spending your gil on mithra or something.
If you are saving your coins and attending boss runs, you are still getting them at below the market rate of simply going out and buying them from someone.
Negatron vs. Ultima Limbus arguing smacks of the old SOAP vs. DX arguments. Let me make this clear - they are separate entities and people go can go to whichever they wish. They will both be in existance so long as there is demand for both so leave it be. If you don't like the fact that Ultima does Limbus don't go. If you don't like Negatron, don't go to Negatron. Neither requires anyone to speak out against the existance of one or the other - if it's existance makes a particular group of people happy then let them have their fun. Speaking from the Ultima perspective we have a variety of events to try to satisfy the desires of our large variety of LS mates. TBH, I don't even see a need for Ultima members to be commenting on Negatron Limbus just as I don't see a need for Negatron members to be commenting on Ultima Limbus. Please live and let live.

That is why Limbus, Dynamis, choco rentals, consumables, AH fees, Assault appraisals, etc. all cost money. If you think about it a great deal of this game is a gil sink and people have to do something to get gil since it doesn't just rain down from the gilded coffers of Altana. It doesn't take much time at all to make 30k if you specifically target making gil. It's possible to make that in 10 minutes by simply teleporting 3 full parties - far less time than people put into voicing the fact that they have no money. People shout to have crap synthed all the time in Whitegate. Take 5 min to do so and charge them - I do. If you have a bit of gil and want to get a heck of a return, do what I do and take advantage of the fact that American kiddies must have everything now. When they are shouting to sell something at 25% off, etc. because they need gil for w/e, I offer them 50% of market value. They usually turn me down at first but a good many come back later when they have been unsuccessful. I flip it quickly by undercutting a bit and make a nice ~40% profit for 5 minutes of my time. I've been doing this for years and made a killing from impatient people who can't put the time/effort into getting what they want.
Bottom line is gil is pretty easy to make with even a minimal investment in time, but it does require that minimal investment in time. Just please don't start a casino or I'll have to blacklist your incessant shouts...

I don't see what the big deal about negatron is anyway. There are like 6 people that go to that instead of Ultima's, and those are people like ara and eticket...who are both horrible whm's! Or gunman who can't really afford to even wipe his own ass, so, thats no big loss looooooooool

Nothing wrong with arguing about something, I usually assume people are not trying to attack others personally. Fine to feel strongly about a particular issue and state your case.
One problem with gil is if you are always doing events and not spending time making gil your gil will go down. I myself do this and have simply been slowly depleting what gil I have over the years.
