Hello! Welcome to FFXIV! Hopefully you're enjoying the game and I imagine a lot of new players have swarmed in with the free trial expansion so I figured I'd share something I've noticed while doing Extreme trials via mentor roulettes.
Extreme trials are not always the sort of content you can waltz into blind with strangers and expect to clear. The low gear level ones can be crushed even with deaths, but end of expansion high item level ones can be tricky, even with good gear.
The game doesn't necessarily do a good job of explaining this and it feels like a lot of sprouts wind up in something like Shiva Extreme, which then proceeds to stomp on everyone because they have no idea what they're doing.
Typically, extreme trials are done one of three ways. Queuing manually via Duty Finder is not one of those ways.
If you absolutely insist on going in via Duty Finder, you should be expected to have some understanding of the fight and how your job plays. If you're in a role that others rely on like healer or tank and you die very consistently, it's only going to cause wipes and frustrate the group. I can understand the desire to experience something firsthand and blind, but when you're playing with complete strangers, it's courteous to avoid that. Again, if you really want to try something blind, you'd have better luck finding others to help you out with proper communication.
I hope this helps a little as it can be quite disheartening doing an Extreme Trial with clearly keen players that are let down by someone who's essentially on their own. It's group content for a reason and does require playing as a team.
Good luck!

- Making a private group with friends or social buddies to tackle it together in voice
- Joining a party finder learning party
- Do it "unsynced" which means the item level cap is removed and you can freely go in as strong as you like
