I'm a recent returner after a long break from FFXIV that was struggling to pick a job to level first.
If anyone has as much trouble at picking a job as I do, here's a template I used to help. I've included some useful metrics such as actions per minute (APM), a raid utility chart, & average job satisfaction from a recent survey done on here.
If a role has an odd number of jobs, there may be some repetition of certain jobs. Feel free to copy the template and change as you see fit, did my best to group them to make sense.
Let me know if any of the information is out of date, I'll do my best to update.

- APM can help give you a general sense as to how busy a job feels and how many actions are required
- Raid utility chart shows what you bring to a team, if you like to be more or less support oriented
- Average job satisfaction shows how current players generally feel about the current state of the job, it does not reflect its position in the meta
