Past weekend went up to Aomori for some back country snowboarding. Although we lacked fresh powpow (powder) the weekend was a blast, thought I would share. Was some great riding.

How was the base and overall conditions? How many trails and lifts, or was it all snowcat/snowmobile/hiking access? And what kind of board are you riding?
I got in eight days of riding this season, riding a 162 Burton Custom from this season, with Cartel bindings. Saving up to go to France for NYE, ride in the alps for a week.

65cm base
One Gondola, hike back country or higher, 2 marked courses, as in every so often it says you are where for safety. More or less just a ride to the top of a mountain. I ride a custom GNU 156 dual back flex with burton custom bindings using toe straps.

That sounds cool, haven't done any back country riding yet.
This was my first season riding with toe straps, loved having them. And I might pick up a GNU or Lib Tech next season, get something shorter if I get more in to park riding next season.

I was going to say a 162 is kind of large, how tall are you? I would guess over 6' if riding a 162. I am 5'10" and my 156 at times seems a bit long. Yeah toe straps are amazing, about time they figured that out, saves so much pressure from the top of the foot hitting the arches. http://www.snowjapan.com/e/features/features-37.html
That is where we went Ono. Unfortunately we didn't have the freshest powder and the base was down by the time we go there, was over 120cm 2 weeks prior.

I'm 5'9" but weigh 190~200. Also got the 162 for riding out west, went to Breckenridge for a couple days in February, and should be going to France at New Year's time. The board itself also doesn't go too far up past my chin. I also have a 153 Ride, an old Brushie Pro.
