For our PLDs

For a while now, we have had a variety of people coming PLD, and doing a great job. So I am not posting this to put any of our PLDs down. But I was asked to post some information for our PLDs since they do have alot of responsiblities throughout the run. It is difficult to answer questions throughly in the chaos before the run.

Mob Order-

In Xarcabard, eyes should always be targeted first because they cannot be slept. They also can tier 3 -GA the alliance and petrify and sleepga, so they should be your first priority. Afterwards, and in all other areas, this is the order which should be followed.

1. Summoner
2. Beastmaster
3. Black Mage
4. Paladin
5. Warrior, Red Mage, Dark Knight, Bard, Samurai, Ranger, Thief
6. Dragoon
7. Monk
8. Ninja
9. White Mage

That said, the MOST important thing about main tanking, in my opinion, is to stick with the mob you choose. If you target a warrior and then see that there is a beastmaster, don't run over and start whacking it when the warrior is at 99%. Just take it next. Waking up multiple mobs causes more problems than taking mobs out of this order.

Beastmaster pets should be targeted as soon as all the Beastmasters are dead (Do not target slimes). Use your own judgement about when to take a wyvern, but generally you will want to target it right after the dragoon mob.

Unless stated otherwise, Yag and Quad NMs are first and Orc NMs are absolutely last.

Also, you should use your own judgement in all situations. If we are wiping, take the bard over the thief. If there are multiple monks and limited sentinels, take one at the beginning and one at the end when, hopefully, a sentinel is back up. Which leads us to monks.

----------

Hundred Fists-

The method which should be used to tank a monk's 2hr is as follows:

1. Store your TP!

2. Use spirits within on the monk as soon as you can after engaging.

3. Hit sentinel QUICKLY after using spirits within.

Spirits Within forces the monk to use its 2hr. Thus you are able to have sentinel up for its 2hr without having to wait and time it. It also establishes decent hate on you before the 2hr goes off.
------

Main tanking-

As main tank your first priority is to provide a target for the melees. Your first action when the pull comes should be to pull out your sword, after that voke/flash.

It is important also to gauge the speed at which the alliance is killing the mobs. You should have the next target ready when the current mob dies. This generally means switching targets at around 20%.

Though your first priority is to provide targets, you should also be actively trying to keep hate. Not simply standing with your sword out.

----------

Off tanking-

As off tank your job is to protect the Red Mages and Black Mages. You should voke and flash slept mobs whenever possible. If needed you should kite the statues so that the BLMs have time to deal with them. If you see a mob running after or beating on a mage then throw them a cure. They make your job much easier so show them some love ;)

Also keep at least 100 TP handy so that if the main tank needs you to sentinel a monk for him/her you are able to do so. To do this you can melee the mob that the alliance is on while still voking and flashing the nearby slept mobs.

This is pretty handy. I must admit that I newb'd it up a few times since that was my second time tanking in dynamis. It's a refreshing change of pace. Looking forward to doing more of it *hint hint*

Great post. It's nice to have the mob order somewhere quick and easy to look up instead of lost in pms or tells.

very useful guide, good job.. although I don't play as of late..
