Ff14 Hunting Community - Extensive Review - 2020 - Primal

I have had several people ask me for an insight on what hunting is like in the FF14 community. While it may not be the views of others or even the majority, I can give what it is like from my personal experiences.

1. A ranks
   1. SHB A ranks are done via a train system. A conductor will pre scout all SHB areas and then announce the trains starting coordinates via discord, linkshells, shouts, and FC chat. Trains have proven to be the most effective way to chain the A ranks and down them quickly.
   2. DO NOT announce an A rank outside of the train. No one will come as the communty standard is that they will be followed by trains only.
   3. If you wish to conduct a train, you are free to do so however, doing so puts your name in a public light and like all politics there are good and bad outcomes to putting your name out there.
   4. SB trains are done on occasion however they can also be called out on a one off basis.
2. S ranks
   1. S ranks must meet certain conditions to be spawned and generally take quite a bit of effort on the spawners part to make this happen.
   2. When an S rank is relayed you will have anywhere from 10 seconds to 2 minutes to get to the mark.
   3. S ranks are not required to be shared by anyone therefore, if the spawner wishes to not relay or announce the S rank then that is their choice.
   4. Griefing does tend to happen with S ranks alot.
      1. Someone pulls the hunt instantly
      2. Someone resets the hunt
      3. Someone does not wait a reasonable amount of time before pulling
      4. Somoene will kill the hunt in front of the spawner before the spawner can get a relay out.
3. Politics
   1. As I said above there are a certain level of politics involved with hunting. At least in my experience. The following tips will allow you to hunt without being punished for overstepping your bounds.
      1. Do not early pull - This is the quickest way to get kicked from linkshells and discords.
      2. Be seen but not heard - Do no speak up about how you feel things could be better or different. The leaders of this community are well established and have put guidelines in place. There is no room for improvement in some folks eyes and you will be a target for harrassment if you are too loud.
      3. Do not run trains without connecting with people first. Conductors take it very personally if you run a train on their server and will take it as an act of hostility if you do so without their permission.
      4. You have no friends - Do not think that when the going gets tough and you are a target for harrassment that anyone will back you up. The people you think are your friends will remain quiet in order to ensure they continue to recieve relays. Often times people will turn on you just to make the drama stop. Remember, no one is interested in whats right, just the end goal.
      5. Discords - Discord, while helpful to recieve information regarding hunts, they are not being utilized for what they are intended. They have claimed to be leaders of the hunt community and a central place for all hunt related things however, they will continue to allow people who are known griefers in the discord and furthermore will punish anyone who speaks out against them. #leaveitalone
      6. Lastly - Do not hunt on Ultros if you are not a member of the Ultros server. Its best just to leave it alone.

In summary you can reach your goals of getting that sweet tiger mount or the dinosour however. You have to weed through the politics and give up any and all basic human rights to do so. Is it worth? You be the judge.
