I hadn't seen this before, and it does not look to be announced yet, but just a heads up that FF14 is now working on macOS Catalina again.
The trick for me was to switch to the 64 bit client, that is available for download here: https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/mac/download/
I do not know when it was released, but I don't recall seeing the 64 bit client when I reformatted my laptop a couple of months ago. Once I switched to the 64 bit client, the launcher worked fine in Catalina, as did the game itself.
You know you have the 64 bit client if the DMG is named FINAL_FANTASY_XIV_ONLINE_x64.dmg (and not FINAL_FANTASY_XIV_ONLINE.dmg). The extracted app is called FINAL FANTASY XIV ONLINE.app: the 32-bit version was simply called FINAL FANTASY XIV.app.
Hopefully this helps someone, if it isn't already common knowledge: the Lodestone announcement still says that Catalina is not supported, with a targeted late November release for support.
