Einherjar (05/28/2007)

<!-- TITLE AREA END --> <!-- TEXT AREA --> A new, massively multiplayer battlefield is in the works for the upcoming version update.
The following is a brief outline on the new, multi-faceted feature:

Concept
Einherjar is an ever-changing multiplayer battlefield based in the Hazhalm Training Grounds. Because the monsters appearing in the dungeons will differ with each visit, a balanced party consisting of skilled, high-level players is recommended to clear these challenging missions.

Participation
6 to 36 players, level 60 and above, can enter each chamber of the Hazhalm Testing Grounds. An item similar to the hourglass used for Dynamis will allow parties to reserve one of the multiple areas, and will be required for entry. No previous Aht Urhgan missions need to be completed before participating.

Battles
After a party chooses a room, they will have 30 minutes to wipe out all the enemies before being teleported back out of the area. This time limit cannot be extended. Each area consists of a large room filled with several weak monsters, and one powerful boss monster. Parties must eliminate all the monsters in the area for the mission to be considered complete. Clearing all the chambers will grant players access to the final area where they will finally learn the secrets that lie deep in the bowels of Hazhalm.

Rewards
An Assault-like system is planned, where points earned in the Training Grounds can be used to purchase various items. The monsters lurking within Hazhalm will also drop rare items that cannot be obtained anywhere else in Vana'diel.

So... each visit only gives 30 minutes in a single room? The costs better be low, and the time between entries better be low as well. I dunno this just seems kinda [Yawn] based on what I've seen in the .dat files. There's really not much going on in those rooms.

Hopefully the fights are challenging, and/or the rewards are good.

I like the idea that it's short, only a half hour. It doesn't have to consume a whole night like Dynamis does. Probably the longest part will be gathering everyone together. ^_^;;

I'm going to make a wild guess and say that the hourglass-like item will be bought with something other than gil, maybe ISP. SE has noted that some things are taking too much gil out of the system, and they are going to reduce the cost of limbus and outpost warps (and hopefully dynamis *crosses fingers*). To introduce a new event like this and have it be another drain on gil... I just see them going another way.

As for reentry time, since you "reserve" an area with that glass, I'm guessing it will be periodic like limbus and dynamis. Besides, if you could do it every night, it would be hard to fit in other stuff that needs to be done. :P

I don't understand why they show people in THE worst friggen gear in their screenshots. Only the whm is properly equipped.

so is the blm ... the blm cant get his afv2 lol

...

Nuking in AF feet = lol... no
Nuking in AF pants = hell no
Nuking in AF coat = go buy a fucking weskit for 20k! :arg:

Well the NIN appears to be dual-wielding Kikokus. Can't beat that :)

Smells like AF2 for the new jobs to me. I sure hope they reduce the cost of things like limbus and outposts, seems like everyone i talk to is broke or going broke lately.
