I found the two following question to be of particular interest:

Question 1 said:
Question 1:
Will there ever be new HNMs that drop equal or better gear than Fafnir, Nidhogg, King Behemoth, and Aspidochelone that do not have 21-24 hour repop timers or that can be popped rather than camped?

Question 2:
Will Fafnir, Nidhogg, King Behemoth, and Aspidochelone ever be altered to keep players from having to camp them for 3 hours every day?

Question 3:
Are there any other ideas under development for the powerful gear obtained from the "3 kings" 21-24 hour HNMs? What does the development team think of the graphic that was shown at the games convention?

We understand that many players want to fight against strong monsters such as Fafnir or Behemoth and wish to obtain special items. However, we don’t think that a lower difficulty will result in the reduction of game play stress.

It is not difficult to move NMs or HNMs to the battlefield, but it would destroy the uniqueness of each monster. We believe that because these powerful monsters dwell deep inside dungeons, players fear them more and the dropped items resulting from defeat of said monsters have added value because they are difficult to obtain.
(If every single player has a rare item, we can’t call really it “rare” can we?

Considering this real pleasure in RPGs, we are not planning to make changes as you mentioned. Nevertheless, for those HNMs whose items have become “too” popular which causes unwelcome confusion, we are planning to make various changes with the next version updates. For example, the introduction of some new methods to obtain these items

It's pretty clear to me that Ridill, possibly Abjurations, possibly Black Belt Items, and maybe even Defending Ring will be coming from Nyzul Isle now.

Question 6:
Why are pop items for the god HNM in Tu'lia 100% drops but the pop items for jailer HNM in Al'taieu very rare?

We are planning to make adjustments in the near future.
The exact details of the drop rates is still a secret, but we believe it won’t disappoint you *g*

The fever of BG got you too Kalia... SE will never make Ridill or any Abj. drop in their new Assault. At BEST, if they do indeed make Ridill, Abj. and Black Belt items drop from it, they'll give it a 0.000001% drop rate, that will make camping Fafnir and his crew a faster way to get your so wanted items. They said it right before the line you bolded:
If every single player has a rare item, we can’t call really it “rare” can we?

It's just like when Salvage was introduced, at first, people were screaming: "ZOMG LOOK AT THIS!!! THIS IS TEH SHIT!!!" and were spamming KI to say what items they'll pick, and how to use them, for their future new awesome TP/WS/Casting setup, but nobody ended up getting any of said items.

As for Sea, they'll just change the 50% drop rate (or whatever the real % is) to 51% or so, and after a week of disappointing Sea farming, nobody will give a shit about Sea, like most people do nowadays.

I don't want to bitch about how FFXI can sucks, because I like the game, but unfortunatly, it's how every single SE announcement and update, are:
1. SE announces awesome stuff.
2. Alla, KI and BG make never ending new threads (that are quickly derailed) about how awesome the update is.
3. People log on FFXI and are disappointed after about a week, and wait hopefully for the next update.

These people did :(

There's also a completed Morrigan Hands, and Usukane Legs, and our server will have a completed Skadi Feet and Morrigan Head within a few weeks.

- Faa: is full of +1 items, AF2 BLM Belt, what I suspect to be a Vivian Ring, and Novio Earring.
- Gilsgameshdux: has lots of nice stuff too, and probably a lot of them hidden in inventory.
- Arrow: lots of +1 stuff as well, plus a Bloodhead Ring and an Aegis.

My point will you ask? Slavage gears are reserved to a few people, elite people full of +1 items out of the ass. My point is that you spend too much time and effort to get nearly nothing. SE needs to understand that if you beat tough challenges, you need a reward. I don't see the problem of having lots people having rare items (yes I know this is an oximore): if I beat 10 NMs in Sacrarium, I want 10 f-cking belts for the people I organized the run with, not 3 belts with 7 people looking at you disappointed and going to play WoW or anything else next week.

Sorry, Im done with my usual rent... lol. :finger:

I just don't see the point of paying for a game I'm getting all emo about. I can't understand why so many people say this game is broken or that SE doesn't care, yet they continue to fork over $15~ every month.

Sorry Lylie, that wasn't directed at you just at a lot of the negativity in general that I've seen lately.

well I think it boils down to....

FFxi = lots of effort needs to go in for the good stuff

WoW = fairly easy to get shit done in comparison

Different games and such appeal to different people.

To bad the static i'm in ain't like that :tounge-1:

I think the people who are negative about the game, but yet, still pay $15 a month is because they have good friends still playing the game. Well, that's why I keep logging a few hours per week anyway.

This reminds me of a conversation I had with some friends awhile back. We basically came to the conclusion that a really good game will only let you win some of the time while bad games will either never let you win or always let you win. Its all about letting you win just enough so is that you will keep on playing. Finding the right amount of "win", though, is the real challenge for game makers.

That especially holds true in a case like this. The desires and wants of the playerbase are so diverse that SE will never completely please everyone with one update. Group A, C and F may be happy while Group B, D and E feel like they're getting ignored. With the next update it could be the other way around. SE has to do what they can to make the most people happy, but no matter what they do they'll never be able to make everyone happy.
