Honor system was ok in SOAP. Only thing that use to piss me off about it was the outsiders picking between DX/SOAP for what AF they wanted.

I agree with Ehon, some of us have lives we need to attend too. Missing a couple of runs due to family or other RL stuff shouldn't penilze(sp) us to bad otherwise chances are people won't wanna go.

OK I'll just go ahead and ask: can anyone give one valid reason not to use a bidding points system? Don't say "too complicated"... consider this to be my volunteer post for managing the points.

1. It will encourage attendance to ALL runs.
2. It will eliminate cherry-picking.
3. It will guarantee that the amount of items you win reflects the amount of time you put in.

I don't consider "because I can't ever attend!" or "because I want to win pieces every run!" to be valid arguments.

Person A and Person B are both after RDM AF2 hat. They have both attended all runs for the last two months and have yet to see RDM hat drop. So they each have the same number of points, lets say 16. Person A misses a Sandy run (the first of month 3) because he has to take a test. He then attends the rest of month 3. Person B attends all runs in month 3.

RDM AF2 Hat drops on the last run of month 3. Person A has 23 points when RDM hat drops. Person B has 24 points. Therefore Person B can bid all of his points on the hat and win over Person A even though Person A has a 95% attendence.

In this scenerio Person A has no chance of beating Person B after missing only 1 run. This can create a lack of motivation to attend runs for someone in Person A's situation. He could attend 100% of the runs from here on out but he will not win a RDM AF2 hat until Person B misses a run or wins his AF2 hat.

While this system would create a great amount of pressure for people to attend at first I think that once people started to miss due to RL (which is going to happen) interest and attendence would diminish.

Why would interest diminish? The next time RDM hat drops, the person who originally lost out (to someone who contributed more to the shell) would be guaranteed the hat if he continues to make good attendance.

Know what kills interest? Knowing that you can attend 1000 runs of Dynamis and never get the one piece of armor you actually want out of it, because in the time it takes for that piece to drop again, 3 new people have leveled the job to 75 or joined the shell and are lotting against you. That was the major flaw in the DX system that I think we finally have the opportunity to avoid.

Most other dynamis shells I've seen have all had some sort of ranking or 'hand of god' system in place. people often post about 'I'm next in line for...' or 'I'm 3rd in line for...' etc.

Whether it's a flaw is really a matter of the type of shell. DX was a large open shell with relatively high turnover rate. Have to strike a balance somewhere to encourage newer attendance. If you can keep everything to a consistent in house group different set of concerns.

Sorry, I should have specified. I was in favor of the rule in DX, because of the situation you stated. However, the big drawback from that rule was an essentially attendance-independent lotting system once you had been with the shell for more than a couple months. The person who just started was on the same playing field as someone who had attended 50x more runs.

Because we don't have to worry about recruitment for the new system, we should get rid of that rule, because in all honesty that was the only reason it existed in the first place.

Valefor by far has the most lax system for Dynamis.

I looked at attending Dynamis on Fairy and every shell was a point base system and with some shells if you skipped Dynamis you lost -6 points lol. Attending would only earn you 2. (1 for being there in zone before gather time, 1 for attending).

Lotting 100s was ok but you had to sell them to sponsor for half the going rate of that 100 or you weren't allowed to lot them etc.

is this thread some kind of joke? ITS A LINKSHELL DYNAMIS JUST FREELOT EVERYTHING FOR PEOPLE THAT HAVE JOBS THAT CAN USE IT. if you are afraid your linkshell m8s will cherrypick items all the time, WHY ARE YOU STILL IN THE LINKSHELL? GO FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE WHERE PEOPLE CARE

LOL, I agree Ash, but as I stated before when I was mindlessly rambling, I think people are more concerned about those we invite with us--though that would fall into the same category. If it was 100% LS, I don't think any of this would apply.

ah, then I guess it boils down to a leader who can kick people who arent holding weight and not care about the feelings of the one person who invited said dynamis invitee. :D

although I dont think that will be a problem...especially now that DX isnt happening. Everyone who went to soap was basically cool people so if the past is any indication we should be ok

Edit: The only small problem I could see occuring is if we take applicants to dynamis and give them the lot job rule since they will probably show until their app is voted on and split if/when they dont get in.

/nod -- though with "not caring about the feelings", the teacher in me would want to educate that person why they're a bad match to the shell and go on, it's not the inviter's fault (really).

Now, if it happens again, take them out back and punch them in the face to get the point across.

I think most of this though, with the honor system, will simply be held in check by each other--we can guilt each other like no tomorrow. ;)
