Notes

• We are currently in the process of testing other products.

• Regarding FINAL FANTASY XI official website (PC Information), chipsets for laptop computers like Mobility Radeon 9000, GeForce FX5600 GO and nForce2 IGP series are confirmed to be working through cooperative testing with certain manufacturers, but the testing results do not include standalone chipsets and are thus not supported.

• There is a possibility that it will not work correctly depending on the Windows PC parts used. We ask that the users be responsible for acquiring and applying the appropriate software drivers.

• The test results above are from May 2008. Please note that there are certain graphics cards or drivers that do not work correctly as listed above.

• If you have an OEM, please install the drivers prepared by the manufacturer.

I'm not sure I want new drivers; the ones I have are screaming at 30FPS on my 8800 GTX. >_>;; Cool that they were still working on it...

Just wanted to note that I tossed the 175.16's on and it's pretty damn nice. During Kirin the other night, I could, from max range see the two Nether Blasts and animation sequences perfectly without any hiccups and was running 30 fps the entire time. Even the two Kirin 2h's went off in full animation. Very impressed.

The ffxi graphics engine is ANCIENT. It's based on DirectX 8.1 with some "optimized" code for the special effects. So it's probably those "optimizations" they use that require this constant compatibility testing. It's pretty obnoxious for the end users. I hope that their new graphics engine they're developing, dubbed "The White Engine" is more universal and scalable than this one, though not likely considering it's being coded for the Cell cpu. Sucks for us PC users as it means if they use that engine for their new MMO, it will be ported code not made for a PC architecture, and likely to be every bit as buggy as this current one.
