Close Invitees?

I would like to propose that we close invitees. We just cleared Xarc and were about 2 pulls from full farming the beastmen in Glacier tonight. I think we have a good number of regular members now. This does not mean that people who have come up to this point and are not Ultima members would not be allowed to come. Just means that we will not be inviting new people at this time. If numbers drop we could open up to new invitees again.

Thoughts?

I think that is fine. Can make an extreme case that would be reviewed by sacs if someone really wants to get someone in. We don't want to grow too big as it causes lag and makes it harder to get AF pieces. Think we have a solid system going for people who don't need AF and now we have a solid team.

Well, maybe I have a friend i'd like to invite, but faggots like eticket have already invited 3 people. I don't think thats fair, BITCHES.

Maybe if you had a friend... :bfg:

But seriously I think that everyone has had a fair chance to invite people. We have been going for three months now and had invitee system open that whole time, so close friends should have gotten the memo by now. I think we've reached a point where we can farm any zone effectively as well as clear Xarc. As long as everyone makes an effort to come consistently there should be no need for more members.

I agree. We had 39 people in Xarca.

If anyone has someone that they have been wanting to bring but who has not yet come for whatever reason, please send me a pm with the person's name and some information about them such as how you know them and their jobs and the reason that they haven't come before. Keep in mind that invitees like any member are expected to attempt to come on a regular basis (not just for a run or two until they get a drop they want).

If anyone has a reason that they would like to see the invitee system stay open please post here so that the sacs can review it.

I'm bringing a friend next time, and she can take my place if we have too many people.

(the bitch has owed me 2mil for 3 years, she plans on lotting money to pay me back over time, le sigh)

Ruby> I love your sig.

LOL thanks, my in game friend Rizzen made it up since a lot of people know me as "The Aggro Queen~Linker of the Dunes". Hence when I first started playing it wasn't uncommon for me to aggro a few gobs and end up linking half the Dunes before I died. :badshape:

So, did Dynamis - Bastok suddenly become difficult when I wasn't looking? 36+ people, that's impressive

Bastok and Beaucedine onry ey?

Well, I figured my idea went along the same lines, so I decided to add onto this topic instead of making a new one.

Amitlu has been described as being a relatively low-man group where the purpose is to get a greater number of AF2 for a greater amount (percentage wise) of the people that show. I also remember reading that the low-man mentality is to help cut down on lag.

I love going with Amitlu, it's good fun and a lot of people really know what they are doing. Having said that, I'm considering going with another - smaller - group. Seriously, first run I did with you guys I had no lag problems. Last week in bastok I was chugging so slowly people in my party kept dying. (I was white mage)

The sign-up sheet, run after run, remains completely barren aside from me and Pixiehawk signing up normally. (I felt this deserved it's own paragraph, if you read nothing else, READ THIS)

I'll happily come as one of my crap DD's for you guys, because the framerate I'm running at right now is leading to people dying way before I even have a chance to cast Cure spells. (yes, this even happens in first-person view looking at the ground) I can try turning down my effects, I'm open to suggestions etc. Any thoughts?

Brilliant suggestion.

While I'm at it I'll go pick up an Xbox 360 Elite, maybe get a bigger harddrive for my Ps2? No, fixing lag isn't that easy. That's why even people with high-end PC's have lag during Besieged. Besides, picking up a better PC or magically fixing the Lag problem won't help me outlot the 30 other people that want the same piece of AF2 I want.

The goal is twofold. It just depends on who you ask. There is a big push for lowman, high AF runs. There's also a push for large currency and things like xarc clears which require large numbers. The introduction of ToAU AF has gone a long way to boost numbers as well.

I'm not sure what to say on the lag though. Lowering the background resolution usually makes a good difference. I rarely get laggy but when I do, I usually shut off firefox and that helps a ton.

Well my pc doesn't lag on besieged or other things the laptop does but my desktop doesn't. Plus you said lag not your lots so that part has nothing to do with this :P

Rek, do you run on PC or PS2/Xbox?

I run on PC, and I used to have the problems you mentioned, but honestly, dynamis isn't all that laggy unless you have 50+ people, the rest ends up being hardware limitations. I fixed my problem by upgrading my RAM and video card. My computer is STILL outdated but not by FFXI standards.

And as mentioned, don't have other stuff running in the background.
