I remember one of my favorite things about FFXI was doing quests that were dangerous. Could this game introduce high difficulty quests? Perhaps with a different marker?

Unfortunately, the overworld in this game is probably the most boring implementation of an overworld in recent memory, however, I believe that if there were SOMETHING entertaining to do in it, it would go a long way to help people not feel that way.

Thus maybe your hard quest spawns enemies that are not a joke to defeat, you need to ask for help/party up, have multiple steps, require you to travel long distances without being able to teleport.

Basically quests that are the exact opposite of what this game encourages, which is solo play, extreme convenience and impatience, and free battles.

These quests would need to be designed to test your intelligence, patience, social skills and tenacity.

for example, perhaps the end boss you spawn does hit so hard you ACTUALLY need a tank and healer, and has enough hit points a damage dealer would be nice addition.

Also, make good rewards for them please. Not essential, because the overly casual may complain, but worthwhile so people don't spend an entire day or weekend finishing a quest just to get a bad reward.

Since the assets and overworld are already there... All you would need is the creativity to design engaging quests.
