Bahia Blanca Flood situation in Argentina and how it's affecting Argentinian players

Hi everyone,

I wanted to bring attention to a very real and tragic situation happening right now in Argentina that may be affecting some of our fellow Warriors of Light.

In early March 2025, Bahía Blanca, a port city in Argentina's Buenos Aires province, was devastated by catastrophic flooding due to unprecedented rainfall. In just eight hours, the city received around 400mm (roughly 15.7 inches) of rain—more than its entire annual average. This has caused widespread destruction, including the collapse of homes, bridges, and roads, and sadly, at least 16 lives have been lost.

Among those impacted are two young sisters, who were swept away by the floodwaters. Rescue operations are still ongoing as authorities continue to search for the missing and assist displaced families.

Over 1,500 people have been forced to leave their homes, many of which are now uninhabitable. The president has declared a three-day national mourning period, and while the government has pledged emergency aid, the recovery process is expected to be long and costly.

The FFXIV community is global, and it's very likely that some of our fellow players in Argentina are currently unable to log in due to this disaster. They may be displaced, without electricity or internet, or dealing with the emotional and physical toll of this crisis.

If any of you have friends in Buenos Aires or Argentina, now would be a good time to check in on them. There are also several fundraising efforts going on to support affected families—unfortunately, I can’t link them here, but please consider looking them up if you'd like to help.

This game community and dev team has always shown compassion in the face of real-world tragedies, and I’m hopeful we can do so again.

Thank you for reading!
