So I wanted to share our story.
Me and my wife started playing FFXIV roughly a month ago, we went in blind and just to enjoy. She chose paladin and I chose White mage.
We were playing just the 2 of us until we started getting these dungeons that included more people. I'm an experienced gamer but my wife is not, that made me hesitant because I have played many online games and people can be unforgiving. Specially with tanks.
After struggling so much trying to do the dungeons unsynced just the 2 of us, we decided to try with people and we got a very pleasant surprise.
Overall other players are helpful, supportive and patient. I have never experienced this friendliness on this scale. Like even on later dungeons (we recently killed Garuda extreme), it took our full party a total of 4 attempts and nobody quit or called us anything bad, they just tried to explained the mechanics and how to defeat her. And it was all done in a friendly manner.
Of course I immediately start writing that we are new and it's our first time doing this dungeon.
So to all of you: thank you, we feel incredibly welcome and you make us want to keep playing!
