This is just a concept, not real mechanics worked out so no need to bog ourselves down with balance just yet, but just spitballing, would anyone else be interested in a Healer job that is based purely on siphoning energy or life / blood / aura/ aether / from enemies so as to heal your party members as a core theme/mechanic for a job? Call it Vampire, Blood Mage, call it whatever, I just thought there are a lot of classes that lean toward dark elements, like Dark Knight for Tanks, Reaper for DPS, and so on, so maybe we could get a Healer that also leans into that dark macabre type of energy.
This would of course come off as kind of a regen version of sage in that it deals damage to the enemy in order to heal allies, while still offering its own unique spell attacks, you're not always healing as a healer but what would make this unique is that when you do heal, you're actually dealing some small amount of damage as well. Thematically I like it, using dark magic isn't entirely unheard of in the game, and visually Im sure they'd do an amazing job. Anyway, I wanted to talk about something other than Healer not being fun and this came to mind.
Besides the siphoning of life from enemies to heal allies, I can imagine them using blood offensively as projectiles to deal damage, or using curses for their Dot and dark energy for their AOE's, they could even have a unique Raise spell that brings a person back as someone who has some kind of sanguine hunger so that after they are raised instead of having weakness they have hunger and their damage inflicted on an enemy heals them themselves, kind of like bloodbath but better as it can bring them back to full health rather quickly depending on how much damage they do and how fast they do it allowing the Healer to save time and magic on not having to heal them further.
I can see their weapon being a stylized thick needle to help draw blood from enemies even though they don't need to be in melee range to do it maybe they could wield two such needles and call them Fangs as their weapon type.
