Thinking forward to the conundrum of the Exarch time-travel plot, I have a theory about the true nature of the Exarch.
It had always bothered me that there are two G'raha's existing at one time. We know that to travel to the First and backward in time that Tycoon was created, using both the power of Alex and Omega.
I looked back at Omega lore for those raids in SB and came to the conclusion that perhaps the Exarch is not G'raha Tia but instead a replica of G'raha Tia.
We know from this side story that Omega is still alive after the events of Stormblood, and they it observed the Ironworks and learned the concept of Hope. I find it interesting that the story cuts short there. It is possible that by utilizing Omega's power they sent back a replica of G'raha Tia (whether the Crystal Tower is a replica or not remains for debate).
After all, Omega did create Alpha which had some special powers that saved the WoL from dying during the Rift collapse in the raids, so it could be possible that Exarch replica inherited powers for calling souls across Time and Space. This would also explain the offhand comments from the likes of Emet Selch of the Exarch's impressive powers and so forth.
If the current Exarch is a replica it could solve a lot of issues lurking around related to time travel. It would also explain his long life span and how he can combine with the Crystal Tower.
Omega uses Alpha to lure strong beings to the Interdimensional Rift, which is not unlike the piece of tech left at the base of the Crystal Tower at the beginning of Shadowbringers that acts as a beacon for the WoL.
