And Jesus if I'm not overwhelmed. The MSQ hadn't really gripped me thus far, it seemed like standard MMO fare for the most part barring some highlights (Hildebrand especially). I even ended up deleting a level 30 character and trying the game again fresh after taking a break for 6 months because I just could not get invested in the story. At this point I have 222 hours just pushing through the MSQ and unlocking dungeons, trials, raids, etc. It got to the point where I was almost willing to just wait until 5.3 in the hopes that it would make it just that much easier to get through this content.
Despite all of this, I've managed to avoid spoilers and boy oh boy am I happy for that, because the last few quests and cut-scenes leading into Heavensward have smacked me in the face and gotten me invested for the long haul.
So many juicy plot lines, Ishgard seems cool as hell, getting to be a dark knight feeds my inner edgelord, and now that I've gotten through the slog I'm more excited than ever to experience Heavensward, Stormblood, and Shadowbringers. I'm conflicted on whether to keep playing today or just take some time to digest all of this plot, but damn it if I'm not excited to see what's next.
I play a lot of other mmos and love hearing when new folks are excited about the game, so I thought I would share my experience as well and hopefully make someone smile!
