When I first started playing, Blacklisted players could not be randomly added to your que in the RDF. You didn't get partied with them. Players even complained in the forums about how their que times got massive (and were then called out by other players pointing out, that happened when you got blacklisted a lot, maybe start being nicer.) It was wonderful to see consequences hitting toxic players who seemed to get their fun out of tormenting others, making disgusting comments in open chat, causing wipes, what have you. I played World of Warcraft for more than 12 years, I left the game because it got so toxic, seeing players yelling "You should go un-alive yourself for sucking so bad" etc etc etc, it was horrible, then Blizzard got caught torturing their female employees and I sort of understood why they allowed their game to turn into such a social dumpster fire.
Why is Final Fantasy trying to follow in their foot steps? Why remove the way the Blacklist worked and allow players, who through their own behavior in game had gotten so many people to blacklist them their que times were getting terrible, to not suffer consequences for abusing other players? I was just in Sandoria. We had 5 first timers in our alliance and a seasoned mentor in our alliance offered to mark themselves so the new people could have some guidance. As soon as they did, another player took it off. It happened twice more before we spoke up in general "Hey we have new players in our alliance, please stop taking the marker off our guy." As soon as the next fight started, another alliance, several players from Excalibur put markers on themselves and started running all over, our new players were dying constantly, one even left after the fight when several of the other players started mocking the deaths and making fun of our alliance struggling, something they continued to do all the way to the end of the raid, it was deeply upsetting to see, players in our party were asking why anyone would act like that, why torture other players, why make the whole thing so much harder? One of the abusive players was a warrior tank that showed up "Unknown 01" for me, meaning...I had blacklisted them (Inevitably for behavior like this because that's the only reason I blacklist people is when they act abusive/lewd.)
