Unexpected Housing Demolitions on EU Servers – Possible Countdown Issue

Hi everyone,

I’m a player on Ragnarok (Chaos), and I wanted to share something that’s been happening lately with housing on EU servers, as many players — myself included — seem to be losing their houses unexpectedly.

There are increasing reports of what appears to be a server-side housing countdown issue: even if you enter your house regularly, the autodemolition timer does not always seem to reset properly. Some players claim that after a reset, instead of returning to the usual 45 days, the timer jumps to only 9 days, sometimes skipping the email warnings entirely.

Some people suggest that, as a precaution, players should actively interact with their house (for example, changing the lighting intensity by even one point), so that in case of a claim the GM can find interaction logs, not just the autodemolition reset. However, so far no concrete evidence has been gathered, and SE has not officially acknowledged any issue.

I personally lost my house, and more importantly, I nearly lost the item and gil reimbursement window, which lasts 35 days after demolition. The GM ended up restoring my items and gil as an exceptional courtesy, clearly stating that it was not standard procedure.

By the numbers:

45 days before automatic demolition

35 days to claim item and gil reimbursement

That’s a total of 80 days, and I am absolutely certain I was never away from my house for that long.

On top of this, I’ve been monitoring plot availability in game, and I’m seeing far more demolitions happening simultaneously compared to the past. It’s not uncommon to see medium and large plots going into lottery, which feels strange given how active the game currently is. Is it really plausible that so many players suddenly became careless at the same time?

I’ve also written a small Python script to collect data from a plot availability tracking site, so I can have at least some objective reference to support what I’m observing.

At this point, I can’t help but wonder if SE might be clearing housing from less active players to make plots available for others. Even if that were the case, I would still consider it deeply unfair: I’ve been playing for over 10 years, often maintaining a subscription solely to keep my house, and now it disappears without any clear trace.

Has anyone else experienced something similar or collected data on this?

Thank you.
