With Evercold on the horizon, some of us have to once again figure out how are we going to acquire the expansion on our account, which is opposite of our physical region, whether it's because we moved countries or other reasons.
For example, an EU player with an NA registered account CAN NOT buy the expansion for their account from the Square Enix site, because it returns an error (and it doesn't even tell you why).
You also can not buy the expansion from the EU site, because the license has to match your game account.
The only workaround is to get a friend to purchase it for you, and send you the code, which is annoying.
It would be really nice to be able to buy the expansion through the mogstation, 'cause at least the crysta payment option works for me. Better yet, offer the NA license on the EU square enix store.
This is also one of the reasons people get scammed, because an EU friend wants to help their friend pay for a sub/expansion, and because they can't buy the correct license, they look to other sites that are fradulent, leading to termination of FFXIV accounts when they use illegitimate codes from stolen credit cards.
