Overall the run went very well, despite wiping once & not gettng the clear.
We entered quickly.
Killed the Bugard easily, he took a few minutes but wasn't that dangerous.
We planned to go to the 3rd floor and do the antlion before the worm. The worm aggro'd us as we went to go past the Altar. The initial Stonega IV caught us off guard, in the future we should use barstonra befeore going to the 2nd level, in case it does aggro. The worm did not have very many HP however, and was killed much faster than the bugard.
On the third floor Preda took point to find the Antlion, its Pit Ambush went through shadows & one-shotted Preda. In the future I think a Pld should aggro this, they ought to be able to survive Ambush. It wasn't that hard to fight.
After this we tried to get one of the TE's, we fought our way easily through the hallway and the first Eye. The 2nd Eye linked with another & caused us to wipe, we need to either figure out a better way to pull this or some kind of sac pull to get to the TE. I made a post on DynamisBums asking how they approached the TE to see if they can offer any advice.
After wiping we decided to try for clear instead of screwing around trying to get the TE.
We weren't sure why the strategy said to walk past the Diabolos NPC's before aggro'ing any of them, and as I guessed originally we'd probably find out the hard way, and did.
Basically if you aggro an NPC it runs away & causes a Diabolos Megaboss to spawn at one of the 4 zone lines. The strategy is to walk past them all so you are camped at the zones, then aggro one, this will cause only one Diabolos to spawn. If you spawn more than 1 they automatically link & you have to kill both in order to get the clear. We actually did an 'OK' job walking past them, we only aggro'd one more, if we hadn't been in such a hurry I think we could have done much better on walking by them.
The Megaboss itself wasn't too bad, we were fighting Spade I believe. Had we had 18 people, and not had a 2nd Megaboss railing the mages I think we would have won. The creepiest part about the fight is that when you aggro an NPC the zone music changes to the FFXI Christmas music, which is just downright weird.
Overall the run went very well though, I think had we not aggro'd that 2nd Diabolos we would have gotten clear. We had plenty of time, even after screwing around with the TE, wiping, and resting back to full we had maybe 15 minutes left to play with the Megaboss.
If we can figure out how to get the TE's properly we'd be in good shape.
If we can get more CoP clears this month, Qufim & Valk in particular, then I will start scheduling Tavnazia once a month.
Good job everyone.
