Before DT hit, Furnishings with "Stained" in their name used to produce moonlight during the night. During the day if a light producing window furnishing is placed on east wall, south wall, or west wall, then at certain times of day, they let light shine through. This currently works for all of the items that are supposed to let "Daylight" in.
However, before DT, there was a light phase during the night that produced a more "blue" lighting that was like moonlight. It didn't work for normal imitation windows. It only worked for the items with "Stained" in their name.
But once Dawntrail arrived, the moonlight phase was removed from all Stained furnishings.
Now builds that rely on the perk of letting light in windows are boring for a longer duration. It used to be something like 12+ Eorzean hours in which light was coming in during the day (like now) from 7am Eorzean Time til 9 Eorzean time, give or take. But before DT, there would be an additional window of time in which a more blue light was let in. It's been so long that I forgot what Eorzean time the Moonlight Phase began and ended, but if I had to guess, it would be Midnight til 6am.
I wish my computer from 2022 and 2023 had been good enough, and had enough space on the drive to record and save videos, but I unfortunately have no proof that the moonlight phase ever existed.
I really miss the moonlight phase that produced light from "Stained" furnishings in the A.M. of Eorzea time.
If I could honestly make a wish to make the DT Graphics update never happen, I'd do it. It changed too many things for me in a negative way. It even permanently changed the lips of my character and, in my opinion, my lips now look like botched plastic surgery compared to my old lips that I considered perfect, for fem miqo face 3 mouth 4 (Sunseeker).
That topic is something I've left walls of text over in other threads, but THIS is about Moonlight. Please give back the moonlight phases that DT stole away from housing builds that used furnishings with "Stained" in their names. <3
